      Very helpful

      A good quality item

This is a review of the 2012 Cats Weekly Postcard Calendar made by TeNeues that I have bought for the third year in a row now. I get so used to looking at it that the style and format suit me so I missed it this January when I didn't have one. I quickly bought one from Amazon as it fulfils a secret mission in my life too. Intrigued? Read on then!!

      What is it?
The calendar is a week to view with the dates across the top and every week you tear off the postcard which is perforated at the top so you can remove the dates from it. Every week you get a new cat or kitten (or group of either) to look at and they are all great quality photography shots.

      What's the secret?
I enter competitions as a hobby and as a result I can always use blank postcards for my entries. I love different and cute postcards as I believe they stand out and may improve my win ratio. The cat postcards are all used in competition entries after they have served their time on my calendar.

The postcard calendar is mounted on a black plastic stand which props itself up once you pop it out (it is mailed flat). Each day is written in four languages and the special days are marked under the date in small writing (for example today is Ash Wednesday). The calendar starts off quite chunky then as the year progresses and you rip off more cards it gets thinner and thinner. The back of each postcard gives credit to the photographer or owner of the photo. The bottom of the each postcard has a border of cats running and jumping. I personally think this spoils the postcard a bit and would prefer it if the photo went right to the edge of the card. That's just my opinion though!

I must admit I left it until the year began to see if the price would drop at all on the calendar. Before Christmas it was around £10 and you can pick them up now for £5.98. I paid £8.05 for mine (including postage). This might sound a little expensive but as I love cats and postcards it feels very customised to my taste.

TeNeues are a publishing group and are famous for their artistic calendars and diaries. I often find them on sale in TK Maxx and love to browse their range. They are not generally cheap but tend to be very high quality and often have specialist appeal.

      Value for money
I believe in addition to providing me with a lovely calendar to glance at, the postcards add a second purpose to me owning this and give me all the excuse I need to buy it each year!

      Final thoughts
This calendar is not for everyone. I realise not everyone likes looking at pictures of cute cats, and most people don't have a use for 52 blank postcards of cats, but for me, it's a real find and something I would truly miss if it wasn't in my life. It would make a nice gift to a cat lover as you are getting a picture change every week instead of every month and it actually takes up less space than a traditional wall calendar.
