Biology 8th edition is probably the largest book i have ever seen. It's too big to carry around with you, but for anyone studying or with an interest in life sciences, i really think it's a must have on the bookshelf. A wide range of topics from bio-chem right through to animal behaviour is covered in this book. Text goes into good enough detail for first year degree students, but although this might sound a bit daunting, diagrams, annotations and questions make this book really easy to understand and access for everyone.
