I've never been confident about my figure despite being a size 10 so when my mother suggested Callenetics to me I decided to give it a go. I can assure you that it does preety much what it says on the cover and is well worth the hour a day spent working on it. The exercises are hard, but you notice the difference in less than a week, and It's worked wonders for all parts of my body. If it has a failing it is that it is mainly a muscle toning system. If you are interested in loosing weight it is effective, but only when combined with cardio workouts. Nevertheless, I would recommend it to anyone- the exercises really work, and fast, especially after years of attempting ineffective 'body toning' work outs form other DVD's or at the gym. Its trully is a lost gem!
Well i have found the perfect exersize program for all those wishing to tighten up all those saggy bit's around your body(if of course you have any). The Callanetics program designed by Callan Pinckney is brilliant and you don't even have to break into a sweat. It works by carring out very small movements that concentrate on firming up individual parts of the body. I got the video with my Amazon gift voucher for my partner and i must admit that i use it as much as her (but of course i still use my weights gotta stay macho now have'nt i) The programme on the video lasts about 30 mins and eases you slowly into the world of Callanetics. I must admit that Callen herself is very annoying but if you can but her voice to the back of your head and mute her once you've got the hang of it you'll do just fine and im sure get to love it as much as me and my partner. I advise you to get the beginners programme first and all those new mothers out there who wanna lose the baby fat then this is ideal. You can find this by doing a search for the vidoe called Callentics or under the exersize section. Get tensing those buttocks and pulling in those tums and believe me it works so give it a go.
I first bought this book six years ago, not so much because I wanted to lose weight, but because I wanted to alter my shape (being rather pearesque). It's a good book to read - very convincing - it starts by taking you through Callan Pinckney's life and how she came to develop Callanetics. Then it gives you pages of photographs of 'real' people's backsides and stomachs after each seesion of Callanetics. It certainly encourages you to have a go. Then you get down to the actual excercises. This program uses very small movements but lots of them, you are expected to do an hour a day of these deep muscle exercises till you reach your ideal shape, then the maintenance plan is just 15 minutes a day. I stuck to it rigidly back then for nearly a month, but I was a student in those days and spare hours were a lot more readily available than they are now! So, did it work? Well sort of, my shape didn't alter like the people in the photos, and I certainly didn't look ten years younger in ten hours (which is what the cover claims), but I did feel a lot stronger and firmer. Also, I've noticed with this plan that when I do have the opportunity to get back into it, my muscles seem to spring back into action much quicker. However, as fitting an hours exercise into my schedule these days means geting up at 5am (before sprogglet wakes) I never stick to it for very long now. If you are lucky enough to have spare time and want to give this a go, don't be put off by your first few sessions. The instructions are very detailed and precise so you'll spend a long time working it all out. My first session took three hours!! However, you get used to it pretty quickly, by my third go I was down to the hour. I also found my posture improved quite a lot and even now when I am doing any form of exercise I tend to automatically tilt my pelvis! The book has exercises for people with bad backs too but I c
an't say whether they are any good or not. Callan Pinckney suffered back problems herself though before the exercises, so they might be worth a go. Overall would say that Callanetics is a good muscle toning system, but only for the seriously dedicated.
