I have long been a fan of George Eliot, and when a writer has been dead for a long time, you don't expect to stumble on works of theirs that previously you hadn't heard of. "The Impressions of Theophrastus Such" was not a work I had heard mention of, and I have only ever seen one copy - the one I now own. I think a bit of background is required. George Eliot was a Victorian novelist, female, who used a male pen name to encourage readers to take her work more seriously.
