Although the book has been put together by James Mildren it does try to reflect as much as possible the actual stories, but without being entirely copied from the paper's archives, directly onto the pages here. There is a nice balance between the compiler/author's words and those of the original stories.

This is another one of those lovely old local history books that I so enjoy reading. It is a tantalising exploration of the people and places of Plymouth's past in words and pictures.
It covers a century from 1895 - the end of the Boer war. The pictures are taken from the Plymouth Evening Herald's - the words, it would seem, also come from the pages of that same publication.
