      Interesting book

      I would like to start a new collecting hobby in the the new year and I have decided to start collecting Postcards. Due to the internet and mobile phone use, texting, cheap calls from abroad etc, the sending of postcards may soon be a thing of the past.This should make Postcards more collectable in the future.
      I have not really studied Postcard collecting ,although I did have a scrapbook full of them when I was a child in the 1970`s ( if only we had all kept these items from our youth!). So I decided to buy a book about the subject. I chose this Shire book as I know that Shire print smalll books containing lots of useful information with nice clear pictures on every page.

      **About the book**

      Published in 2007 by Shire publications Ltd and printed in Great Britain,written by C.W.Hill ( formerly a Naval officer and collage lecturer in History).Originally priced at £4.99, I brought my copy from Amazon on special offer where you pay 1p for the book but you have to pay full price for the postage ( still worked out less than the RRP.)

      Paperback format,it is 40 pages long and contains sections including;

      The origins of the postcard, telling how postcard became popular

      Topographicals

      Comic cards , with some very funny examples

      Commemoratives

      Philately, stamp collecting is somewhat connected to postcard collecting

      Collecting advice

      A Glossary, at the back to explain all the postcard collecting jargon.

      A page with further reading information, listing more advanced books you can buy

      So you see there is plenty of information contained in this small reference book and I hope to learn enough to get me started on my new hobby.I now know the type of postcards to buy as an investment ,I only hope that I can find some.
