As viewers of QI will know, the main point of the book is to amuse you by pointing out what you thought you knew about things isn't true and then throw in a few amusing comments from the assembled comedians. The Animal Ignorance book doesn't dwell on what you thought you knew as much as the other QI books, but there is still quite a lot of content that falls into that category.
The writing style is conversational and the majority of entries are 2 pages long (including small illustrations) so it is an excellent book for commuting or reading on flights. The animals covered go from the common (fish, in general) to rare, at least from a UK perspective (platypus, kangaroo).
Fans of QI will appreciate this book, as will people who like reading trivia, animal and nature lovers, and dare I say it, people who like to know more than those around them. Actually anyone who appreciates knowledge and humour should enjoy this book.
QI is a fantastic game show hosted by the witty Stephen Fry and panelist Alan Davies. It is very popular and has a cult following. Everyweek a selection of questions are posed to the celebrity teams and the answers are both bizzare and insightful. Due to the cult following QI is becoming a brand with many books on offer to buy. This book has a foreword from both Stephen Fry and Alan Davies whihc is a nice litle extra and focuses on the fasinating world of animals as the little suggests.
I would recommend this as a gift to both animal lovers and followers of QI as it is something a little different and is reasonably priced. Although it is not something one would read from cover to cover it is nice jsut to have a flick through it and marvel and the amusing facts and stories inside. Makes a nice stocking filler at Christmas. One in many of the QI books.
