      Very helpful

An interesting book which can motivate the reader to make changes to their lifestyle

I bought this book from Amazon after reading a few blogs about different ways of bringing up your children and I was interested to read about the author's methods. I bought this book from Amazon a few months ago. It is still for sale on there and is about £7.

I found this book really interesting and as with most books I read, I think I will take the few pieces of advice that would work for me and my family and apply them to our lifestyle.

The main theme running through this book briefly, is how nowadays we all have alot of choices, too much 'stuff' and too little time and how this can lead to children becoming anxious, have trouble with their friends and at school.

On the back of the book it says, 'Now internationally renowned family consultant Kim John Payne helps parents reclaim for their children the space and freedom that all kids need for their attention to deepen and their individuality to flourish.

Simplicity Parenting offers inspiration, ideas and a blueprint for change:

      - Streamline your home environment. Reduce the amount of toys, books and clutter
      - Establish rhythms and rituals. Discover ways to ease daily tensions, create battle- free mealtimes and bedtimes.
      - Schedule a break in the schedule. Establish intervals of clams and connection in your child's daily torrent of daily doing.'

Overall I enjoyed reading this book. I like the writing style: it's informative, sensible and encouraging but doesn't 'preach' at the reader.

I haven't yet tried out all of the things the book suggests, but did have a MAJOR clear out of my daughter's playroom, just leaving a few games and well-loved toys (I have started swapping boxes of toys around in rotation so she doesn't get so fed up of the toys she has). I have actually found this really helpful there are less toys in one place to keep tidying up and my daughter seems to appreciate the toys more and plays with them more.

I can't say that this book has changed my life dramatically and I don't think that I will start doing every single thing that the author suggests or mentions but a few of the steps we have adopted has made my life abit more peaceful and not so hectic.
