Advantages: Honest, funny, can't put it down

Disadvantages: None

I bought this book a couple of years ago, and have read it a few times. I originally bought it from Amazon but it seems quite hard to get hold of now. It has a RRP of £7.99. The book has 400 pages, and was originally published in the UK in 2008.

The book covers a weight loss story personally from Shauna Reid, who in January 2001 was 23 years old and twenty five stone. In the book, she talks about her online blog of her alter ego Diet Girl, and talks directly to you confiding in the audience with her thoughts and worries. It is written like a diary where Shauna states the week of her weight loss, the date and her weight including how much she has lost and gained. It also has some nice pictures in the middle of the book of Shauna as a young child showing how she gained the weight and lost it again! Shauna is Australian, and goes travelling in the book where eventually she looses twelve and a half stone. It is lovely to see her in the pictures when she has lost the weight.

I found the book hard to put down, as I wanted to know what happens next. There are familiar characters throughout the book, such as her mother which she calls 'The Mothership' and her sister Rhiannon. Shauna talks honestly about how she gained weight, and the lengths she has gone to in order to loose weight and be happy. She also meets her now husband Gareth during the book and it is really endearing seeing how they meet.

I think it is easy to relate to Shauna, whether you have struggled with your weight personally or not. She talks from the heart, also with humour and I think it is a really good read.

Summary: A truthful and interesting book about weight loss written honestly
