Advantages: Makes you laugh

I brought this book in hardback format from my local charity shop from their reduced items table for 50p. Written by Ariel Leve, published by Portobello books in 2009 and originally priced at £12.99 (I definitely got a bargain for 50p!.)
Ariel is an award winning forty something journalist and columnist who divides her time between London and New York.Much of this book reflects the contrast between living in New York and living in London. The book does not actually have a story as such because Ariel is telling the reders about her day to day life. She is single, lives alone and has many friends who she also talks about throughout the book.
She is a serious hypochondriac ,sometimes neurotic and definitely a worrier. The slightest illness can turn into a major health scare being made worse by Googling her symptoms and making her worry even more. In New York she has private medical insurance and makes good use of her various ologists, in London she has to make do with the NHS.
Although single at the time of writing she is looking for love with the ideal person. She tells lots of funny stories about her encounters with ex boyfriends and those of her friends who have embarked on the dating game.
I found this book to be very funny , well written ,honest, and as a middle aged lady myself I can identify with Ariel on many of the subjects covered in the book.
