The Manifesto of the communist party is the result of collaboration betweeen two great minds in the modern history of political philosophy: Karl Marx and Friedrich Engels.I chose to start my review in such a manner, because there is a widespread tendency to rather neglect the name of the second author, Friedrich Engels, something that is for sure completely fallacious. The Communist Manifesto, written in 1848 was one of Marx's (Karl Marx was aged 29) early works when he and engels were thrashing out ideas about capitism and class society. The title of the Communist Manifesto is very misleading in terms of todays context - it was not a 'manifesto' in terms of the junk that the labour party and tories put through you door every 4 years, it was the first time that a detailed analasys was put down on paper in an inspirational book.
