I have always struggled with my love of food and the forever battle to fit in my jeans. My enjoyment in life is sitting with friends whilst chatting over a scone and cup of tea! After having my second baby I needed to try and fit back in my old clothes but I did not want to go on a crazy diet. The rrp for this book is £12.99 mine cost £8.99 off of ebay so well worth shopping around. The book is accompanied by a free cd and dvd. The aim is that you will be hypnotised into feeling like you have had a gastric band fitted so your stomach feeling fuller quicker. You are then meant to act as if you have had it fitted so eating a lot less and feeling full. The first step is to read the whole book. I actually found this quite easy to do. It is an interesting read and kept my interest. Not at any point was I tempted to skip pages. He gives examples from work he has done and of others. He includes details from conversations with doctors and medical facts. It is also in the book that he introduces the four rules to which he says you must follow in order for it to work. So never let yourself get hungry, eat what you want including cake! When you eat focus only upon your food so no reading, watching tv, put your knife and fork down after every mouthful, chew twenty times. The final rule is stop eating when you are full! The second step is to watch the dvd. It is on this dvd that you learn the a Havening technique which is all to do with tapping your body. I watched this a few times to make sure that I could do it. I am sure it must work for some but to me it felt a bit strange. The third step is to listen to track one on the cd. This track is meant to be like preparing to have your gastric band. To me it felt a bit pointless and I just wanted to get on with the actual hypnosis part. The fourth step is to listen to the hypnosis cd. It is on this part of the cd that he hypnotises you into thinking that you have had the band fitted. It is important to have a quiet place to relax and listen to the cd. Paul McKenna's voice is very calming so much so that I would fall asleep listening to it. Why this did not work for me is many reasons the main one being with a house of kiddies it is hard to find the time to lie down in a quiet room. Eating without distractions was also hard to do with young children especially when Mummy is their favourite word! The principles of the cd and book make complete sense and I can see how the four rules can help you loose weight. As a child I was always told off if I did not eat everything on my plate so I can see that this a habit to break. Although the cd and book did not work for me I can see how it could work but the person would need to be very determined and self disciplined.
