Although this book title refers to Toxic parents I feel that it can be used to cover abuse by any person who was in a position of trust in your life when you were growing up.

It shows that if you were the child of toxic parents it can manifest itself in adulthood with difficulties in relationships, decision making and depression. The 'parents' may have been one or a combination of the following things inadequate, controlling, alcoholics, verbal abusers, physical abusers or sexual abusers.

This book aims to recognise if you were a victim and if so how it relates to your present roles in life.

It then suggests how to reclaim your life using case histories and real life experiences of adult children of toxic parents. The aim is to help you to break the cycle and patterns of behaviour that you use.

It is not a long book and is very helpful in making people feel that they are not alone in how they have responded. Dr Forward states that her aim is release you from the demons of self blame once and for all and I know quite a few people that this book has done that for.
