ELC Doggy Paddler
by northernlovely
I never thought I would get the opportunity to review my daughter's Doggy Paddler for DooYoo but here it is and here we go :)
**What is it?**
The doggy paddler is a typical plastic wind up and paddle / splash bath toy, aimed at toddlers and young children. It's also available in Frog and Duck versions at the same ... price.
**Price and Availability**
DooYoo states £4 but I paid £2 so I think that's the correct price. You can buy it in Early Learning Centre and Mothercare branches (the Mothercares which have an Early Learning Centre built into them such as for example the Ancoats Street branch in Manchester centre) and online at their respective websites (a delivery fee applies).
**Looks**
The dog is a lovely vibrant yellow with black spots and ears, and he is wearing cute green swimming trunks! Underneath the dog there is a yellow winder to wind up his mechanism. His arms are designed like paddles as they are what makes him 'go'.
**Use**
It's obviously really easy, all you do is wind up the doggy, pop him on the water's surface and let go and away he goes! This usually has my 19 month old daughter in absolute hysterics and she often grabs him out of the water before the mechanism has run out and his arms are still flailing madly (but it's perfectly safe and she finds that even more hilarious!)
The toy has lasted since last Christmas and it's still used, and there's no type of overwinding problems or rust / moulding and so on.
**Recommend?**
Yes, absolutely! It's a pocket money priced toy and a brilliant stocking filler (which is what we used it for). It's lasted well and it's incredibly cute. It'd make a nice gift too as often kids end up with loads of toys but less bath toys, so it's nice to give something different. Yes, overall I give this 5 stars out of 5 because it's a lovely little toy for the money and it's sure to give lots of fun to it's little owner. Read the complete review |

Clockwork Meerkats
by bringingsexyback
WHAT IS IT?
Two wind up meerkats that walk when you wind them up.
THE DESIGN
Both meerkats are identical to one another with the only difference being that the winders, bow ties and tassels on their hats are different colours. They looked very nice online but when they arrived they were very cheap ... looking. The plastic is very ugly and feels cheap in my hand whenever I touch the meerkats. The winders are very small and that makes it hard for an adult to grip them enough to wind them up fully.
WHAT I THINK
I think these meerkats are a very poor toy. They do walk but not for very long and it is a very jerky walk, they do not go in a straight line and I think this is because of the bad quality because one of them walks in a straighter line than the other one. They are very light and flimsy so do not use them on a high surface because if they drop onto the floor they will break.
A full wind does not make them walk for very long and both meerkats make a horrible shrill whirring noise while they are walking. I do not like the look of these meerkats either and think the maker realised how popular meerkats are right now and quickly made these toys to jump on the bandwagon, they do not look natural at all and have got faces that are more like dogs or hamsters.
If they were cheaper it would not have mattered so much but they cost £8 for both meerkats but I think they should cost no more than £1.50 each because they are such bad quality. What has annoyed me is that I was in Hawkins Bazaar yesterday and they have moved all their stock round in the shop for Christmas, these meerkats have been put with the Christmas stock and they must know how bad they are so I think there will be lots of disappointed children opening these on Christmas morning.

Mickey Mouse Clubhouse Toodle Ears
by kristiansmommy
I purchased these for my Mouse loving son after hearing him shout 'Oh TOODLES!' one too many times at our TV screen. On first glance they look fairly impressive; they are sturdy and colourful and look just like Mickeys' own ears, which encouraged my littlest to try them on. He happily ran around the house in them for a few seconds until ... they fell right off. (That's saying something; my son has quite a large head!) They are quite weighty and the force of this was causing them to fall down. Not only that, but you can't adjust the headband, so if they're too big or small, you're stuck and they won't fit.
My son didn't like the games; one of them is a bit like Simon Says but he found it difficult to hear and I had to keep telling him what to do; by the time I had managed to do this the time limit was up and he would have failed the task which he found quite frustrating.
I only paid £6 for our pair so we didn't lose out too much, but I would definitely not reccomend paying any more than that for them, and wouldn't suggest that you buy these for a child under 5. Read the complete review |
