Moshi Monsters Golden Collection Moshling Tin Series 2
by pootlegirl My mother-in-law bought these for my daughter last Christmas. She was 3 and a half at the time and neither she, us or my mother-in-law actually had any idea who or what Moshi Monsters were! We'd heard of them, but I didn't know if they originated from TV, books, comics or what. On Boxing Day my 9 year old nephew enlightened me to the ... fact that it is an online game where you adopt and care for your own virtual pet monster, play games and chat with your online friends! Since then I have realised it is obviously an online game that has turned into a playground craze with an abundance of merchandise to go with it. Needless to say the online side of it was not something I wanted to introduce my 3 year old to! Nor did we need to. The same thing attracted her to these toys as I'm sure must have attracted my mother-in-law to them. They come in a shiny tin and are very cute! At 3 years old she didn't care who or what they were! In the tin you get 8 plastic gold Moshi Monsters, apparently they are Fifi, Honey, Jeepers, Mini Ben, Oddie, Rocky, Lady Meowford & Shishi. My nephew was very excited about some of these so I presume some of them are rare. You also get a collectors leaflet which explains a bit about the characters in the tin, this was of no iterest to my daughter and I imagine it ended up in the bin pretty quickly! 10 months later these little gold creatures are still quite popular at our house. She still has no idea who they are (other than they are Moshi's - in fact she called them mosher's for a long time!). They have probably not been a whole set of 8 for quite some time (the tin is used for crayons now as it was always empty, the moshi's packed away in a bag/living with her toy fairies/lined up on our mantlepiece/etc.) but they have remained popular. Although, thinking about it she never actually does anything with them! They just exist! She doesn't even use them in imaginative play, but there is obviously something about them that she likes. If I could find one now I would check it for chipped paint, etc but typically I cannot! But I know I have never looked at them at thought "look at the state of that!" so they must still be in pretty good condition, and the tin is certainly still going strong! All in all this has been a great toy, even for a non Moshi fan! However, I would be in no rush to add to the collection, and kind of hope that by the time she's old enough the craze will have passed! Moshi Monsters Golden Collection Moshling Tin Series 2
by MikeBorry ~ Moshi Monsters Golden Collection Moshling Tin Series 2 ~ Personally I don't get the Moshi Monsters hype, but I do know someone who does - My 8 year old son. To say he likes them is an understatement. My 5 year old likes Moshi Monsters but he is at the age where he is happy with a few Moshlings and that's it, however my 8 ... year old (nearly 9) is mental about them. He has got a rather large collection of Moshi Monsters items and I have just bought a load more for his upcoming birthday later this month. In his collection he has this Series 2 Golden Collection Tin. He has numerous moshlings in a variety of bright colours but he really wanted the golden moshlings. This set comprises of a golden coloured tin, inside of which you will find eight golden moshlings, these are - Fifi, Honey, Jeepers Mini Ben, Oddie, Rocky, Lady Meowford & Shishi. You can also get these in the normal coloured varieties however they are more rare in the gold form. They are basically little plastic lumps, formed into characters, they are not scary to look at, in fact Oddie is shaped like a doughnut as he is a foodie! I know too much *sob sob*! Mini Ben is a miniature version of Big Ben (the clock)! I paid in the region of £10 for this set which is a fair price for the toy but still a rip off! They remind me of the sort of stuff that would come out the balls in a 20p machine! However they are the in thing at the moment just like Pogz were 'in' when I was a child! Moshi Monsters can be bought in packs of five in lots of places like Asda, Tesco, Argos etc. and the pack will show four of the five figures and the remaining fifth one will be hidden so it's a surprise and in my sons last pack he found a Golden Scrumpy so there are other ways to get the golden moshlings, you don't have to buy the tin, however it is pot luck as to who your surprise moshling will be. My son has had doubles of the figures and has taken them to school to swap which I do think is a great way of building the sets up. He and his friends often have a little swapping session as playtime and they all only take in their doubles so there's no chance of them loosing/swapping a moshling they actually liked. Until Moshi Monsters became popular my son was quite shy in school and didn't have many friends, I don't know where he gets if from! But because of his interest in Moshi Monsters he now has lots of friends as they are all into the same thing, so I do have to thank them for bringing him out of his shell, and I think this is the reason that I do spend more on Moshi Monsters than I would like. These are a great thing for any Moshi fan and make a great gift, the tin also provides a handy safe place for them too. Thanks for reading :o) x Read the complete review |

Moshi Monsters Golden Collection Moshling Tin Series 2
by kaitlinsmummy Both of my children have loved the "moshi monsters" since it first came to our attentian via an E-learning safety session run at their school (they try to encourage regulated websites such as this one and Club Penguin, trying to keep the older one's away from Facebook as long as they can!), with it starting with the website, ... then progressing to the toys and merchandise within the range, though only for the collectors cards and online freebies. Many a Saturday morning i can be found lurking in the toy aisle in Asda, literally squeezing the collectors packs of moshlings to try and get an ultra rare moshling (better online freebies one one of those!) rather than two glumps (round shaped characters which i think i am correct in thinking they are minions of the baddie Doctor Strangeglove!). I noticed that they also had a collectors tin, this is a set of moshlings (some ultrarare), but all gold, and held within a tin big enough to also hold my childrens collection (which is now immense!), so got them a tin each last Christmas. Inside each tin there are - Fifi, Honey, Jeepers Mini Ben, Oddie, Rocky, Lady Meowford & Shishi, which i would like to say means something to me, with Lady Meowford being the only name i recognise! Everyone is coloured gold, and the tin comes with a collectors card, which when you have a few can be used in a similar way either trading cards or to play games with like top trumps. There is also an online code, which when entered into your online moshi account (free to have the room and personalised monster, but membership to play a lot of the online games), which can give you things for your room like a poster, furniture, even moshlings (baby pet monsters that you keep in your own moshling zoo, though you can only have a certain amount if you are non-paid member, but limitless if you have membership), upto "roxs" which is the currency used in the Moshi world. I have to say i wasn't all that impressed with these figures, normally (and even though they are quite cheap, which is why my kids can afford them with their pocket money), they are brightly coloured, and sometimes are limited editions, so contain glitter in the plastic itself, making them look actually quite impressive, but sprayed gold they really do look cheap and nasty. Also (and this is partly my fault as i didn't read the tin before buying them), i was hoping that they would come as they do in the collectors packets, and not be the same figures in each tin, that really is half of the excitement for my kids, never quite knowing what characters they are going to recieve, then spending the next few hours teasing the other when they have found an ultra rare one! Price wise when i purchased them they were £9.97 a tin, though have now come down in price due to there being two new series of Moshlings having been released since then (these are from series 2, though still highly collectable!). My daughter has in the last year gone to secondary school, and now finds these sort of childish toys beneath her, so has given her extensive collection to her younger brother (Connor is seven) but due to these gold moshlings now has two of a few, which defeats the point! Personally i would stick to the sealed packets where you are going to get a surprise everytime! For more information visit - www.amazon.co.uk Thanks for reading x Read the complete review |
