Suck UK Dead Mark Bookmark
by cazkins I came across these over Christmas whilst on the hunt for a novelty present and ended up buying two of them for book-lovers. They were happy enough with their dead men bookmarks, and they are very quirky, although I don't necessarily think they're worth their RRP. Suck UK produces a range of novelty gift ideas, a few others of ... which I came across during the Christmas rush. This particular item is affectionately named 'Dead Mark', because it's basically a squashed yellow man, made of rubber, that'll keep your page. It comes packed in that air-tight plastic that's hard to open but it looks neat enough. His relatives, should you be interested in the range, include Splat Stan (the squashed man used as a coaster), Harry & Mike, though I'm not overly sure who the other two guys are. The bookmark itself measures 125 x 70 x 20mm, so it fits nicely into a regular paperback or hardback book. However, I like my bookmarks to be long so I know they're less likely to fall out, and I did get the impression that this could slide out. Having said that, he's made of silicone rubber, so it grips the pages slightly, better so than a laminated plastic bookmark anyway. I didn't imagine it to be quite as thin and flexible as it is, which gives the impression that it's not particularly worth its RRP of £7.50. I bought these when they were selling on Amazon for a little under £5, and as a novelty gift or token present it was spot on. Would I buy it for myself? Probably, because I like quirky things and it's quite cute, but I can't justify the price for what it is unfortunately. RRP £7.50 but selling on Amazon for £4.99. Read the complete review |

Suck UK Save Money Box
by jennikitten I got this Suck UK money box as part of my dooyoo Christmas stocking, and at first glance I was excited to see a product from Suck UK as I can't justify buying anything from there but I've always loved the look of their quirky products! It's a great brand for gifts or those with money to burn. You can check out more of their fun products ... at www.suck.uk.com. On to the money box. I have to say I was quite slow at getting the joke; it's designed to look like a computer key with 'Save' written on it - a key that used to feature on keyboards a few years ago. The hardest part was getting it out of the box without ripping it, as the box wasn't a straight cuboid shape but rather sloped up in almost the same shape as the money box itself, and too cute to ruin! Once we got the money box out of the box, I examined it closely and thought the quality was pretty good. It's made of thick plastic and the black 'Save' writing seems quite hardy. The strange thing about it is the bottom of the money box, as for some reason it has a metal plate you remove to access your money. I would personally prefer a plastic lid or a cap of some kind, because I found the metal quite difficult to remove - although maybe that will make you think twice about spending your savings! The money box is on the small side, so unless you're giving it to a younger person (and I can't see a kid appreciating the design very much), I would recommend storing notes in here, or perhaps £2 coins. The slot is wide enough so that this is possible. I can't remember the last time I bought a money box, but this one will hopefully encourage me to save some money in 2011 - particularly as I've nearly maxed out my ISA limit. It's also useful for storing loose change in. The cost is quite expensive at £7.50, but considering Suck UK's prices in general, I don't think it's particularly bad. It's a nice jokey present for the geek in your life and they will know it's from an expensive brand due to the Suck UK box. Overall, I'm giving my rating based on if I'd chosen to buy this product (therefore excluding price and design, and focusing on quality, packaging, novelty and functionality) and I give this 3.5 stars - rounded down to 3 for dooyoo purposes. Summary:- Made from: Plastic Reusable: Yes Size: It's small Cost: £7.50 - not cheap! Worth buying?: Only as a quirky gift Read the complete review |

Suck UK Save Money Box
by VampirePrincess Another item from my Dooyoo winnings is up next, didn't know really what to think of this one at first as it's not really my thing so to speak. Suck UK 'Save' Money Box: This is rather a novelty item and for a money box is rather small, the one I have at the moment is like a big glass jar and it adds up what you ... have put in as you go. The money box is designed to be an over-sized version of a keyboard key, which I guess for people that are really into their computers would suit them. It is very different from most standard money tins which I guess is the idea to have some thing a little different/quirky/fun. It measures 10.5 x 10.5 x 5.5 cm so you can tell from that it isn't going to hold much loose change but still a different gadget to have. It's plastic with a metal base that clips off in order to get out your savings; so it can used again and again. It is cream in colour with 'save' in black writing and personally not a fan of the colour as my computer accessories are all in black so this really wouldn't match anything in the computer room. You slide your loose change in to the slot provided at the top of the key and it slides in easily with a clunk as it hits the metal base. Price and Availability: This money box will set you back £7.50 from the Suck Uk web site and I know this is more of a novelty item more so but still I think at £7.50 you can certainly buy a much better savings tin. The 'save' money box can also be purchased from Amazon for just a little more at £7.63. Overall: Well not really something I would pick for myself or nor would I choose it as a gift for others, I think for what it is its way over priced. For £7.50 you can get bigger and better ones, and ones that add up along the way. As this was a free gift I didn't want to be to harsh in reviewing this, but sorry I'm just giving my honest opinion. Just a short review as there is just not much to say about this money tin. Sorry Dooyoo but I think this shall go on my give away pile. One out of five stars from me. Thanks for reading :o) Read the complete review |
