WHAT IS IT?
A money saving pot featuring the Boofle character.
The money pot is about 6" high. My one is the same as in the photograph Dooyoo have provided with a claret top and base and creamy white body. The image shows Boofle lying on top of a pile of coins with the legend: 'Boofle's Pot Of Pennies'. This is very much like a Terramundi because it doesn't have a hole and stopper so you need to smash the pot so you can get to your money.
WHAT I THINK
This money pot was gifted to my daughter when she was born in June of this year. I have never seen the Boofle character before but it is popular among children and young adults in the same way as the Me To You bears are. I like the colours used on this money pot and think it looks very attractive in my daughters nursery.
The coin slot is large enough to hold every coin up to a large £2 coin and it has been cut wide so that little children can easily put the money in themselves. The only sad part is having to smash the pot and I just do not think I could do that because it is so beautiful, I have put a few coins in it and am hoping to fill it but I will have to look online and see if there is a way to remove the money without breaking the pot because that would be a shame. Not only because the pot is so lovely but also it was a birth gift I want to treasure for a long time.
The money pot is very good quality and the walls of the pot seem thick with a hardness like clay instead of porcelain. It has got a nice fat shape and the bottom is flat so it stands up without wobbling, I do not worry that my children are going to make it fall over when they are running around because it is so stable.
5 Dooyoo Stars.
I just had to write a review about these wonderful money pots. So far to date I have purchased 2 of these as birthday presents, which went down very well indeed.
These pots of dreams are made by the "Carte Blanche" range who also do Tatty Teddy, Tatty Puppy and of course Boofle, who is the latest to come from this group. Now you may be asking what is a Boofle is well this is how it all began;
"Grandad's woolly cardy had seen better days, It was still soft and cosy, but a little bit frayed. There was holes in the elbows, and just one button remained, but, from this Nanny was sure something else could be made ... So she started to sew on that cold winter's night, and Boofle was born, much to the children's delight. Boofle was all that a snugglesome pup should be, Lovable and cuddly and a best friend to you and me"
And Boofle was created, a big hit with small children right through to the older generation ( although saying that I have overhead Older Ladies say " I could knit that with a ball of wool for half the price!!)
There are many Boofle items to purchase, but I think this is my favourite as it is so pretty. Coming in the form of a ceramic pot which only has a slot for the money to go in. Which means that to get your money out you will have to (dare I say it!) SMASH it into a million pieces.
Now I know that this sounds crazy, but it will encourage you to keep saving and not keep dipping into it at the slightest chance, so that is a good side to it. Also if you fill it with £2 coins you can end up with just over £1000 saved so again another good point, but it is just too nice to smash!! I think I would try and do the old knife trick through the slot and get my money out that way.
The bottom of the pot is painted in a deep red colour with gold dots spotted about, then above these there are little gold stitches around the pot. At this point it changes colour to a creamy/white colour and as you look up the pot you will see Boofle sprawled out laying over piles of assorted coins. These coins are sprinkled with gold glitter, the pot then narrrows slightly and returns to the deep red colour matching the bottom of the pot. Above Boofle are the words "Boofles pot of pennies", this pot is approx. 6 inches high.
A piece of brown string is around the neck of the pot with a brown paper label attached that tells you about the pot. Usually these Boofles are available in "Clintons", but I have noticed that a lot of other smaller shops now seem to have them now, so they are not just for sale in Clintons.
This pot retails for around £9.99, but can be found slightly cheaper if shopped about for.
