Advantages: Educational and fun

Disadvantages: Some pieces can be a bit stiff to remove for small children

My son was given a Mr Potato Head for christmas by his Grandparents, my Nan said that when my Mum was a child that you could only buy the face pieces, arms and legs and that you has to use a real potatoe, I imagine this left quite a bit of mess and a lot of mouldy potaoes lying around.

Mt Potao Head is one of those toys that most children seem to have and it is a firm favourite in our house.
We have the classic Mr Potato Head he comes with a brown potato body, that has a small hatch at the back for storage of the other bits you get, which means that pieces can be kept together and they do not get lost. It also comes with eyes, yellow glasses, 2 pink ears, a set of white teeth, a red tongue, a large red nose, two white arms, a set of blue shoes, a black moustash and a green baseball cap. The point of the toy is to encourage creativity , to swap and change face and body parts, by putting them in the vairous holes and to make funny combinations. My son enjoys putting the pieces in the wrong places such as the eyes in the baseball hat hole and then laughing.

The product is made of sturdy, brightly colour plastic and is easy to keep clean with a quick wipe with a damp cloth. The product is designed for children aged 2-8 years old, it is currently retailing on Amazon for £4.87, but they are widely available and the prices depend on where you buy them from.

The toy is very educational as it encourages your child to put the face and body pieces in the correct place and it also helps them to then identify the toys parts with their own body parts. The pieces are quite chunky, but a few of them can be a little stiff to remove, such as the nose and eyes. I would recommend supervising smaller children whilst playing as the ears and tongue are quite small and can easily be put in your childs mouth. The hatch on the back of Mr Potatoes Body has an annoying tendancy to fall off, which means I am constantly fixing it back on, this is my only gripe with the product overall.

There are loads of different Mr Potato Head you can by nowadays, such as Spud Lightyear and Darth Tater, these vary in price and the pieces are all interchangable. You can also buy a Mrs Potatoe Head, so the possibilities are pretty much endless.

Overall I think this is a great toy, that my son loves to play with and it is also educational, whilst being fun. It offers fun for all ages, and a know a few adults who have bought the Darth Tater. I would recommend this toy to others.

Summary: Great toy that offers hours of fun
