“ Keychain „
One of these days I might grow out of liking cutesy childish things, but hopefully not any time soon! I'm a big fan of Hello Kitty and love the huge range of accessories and trinkets that are available. There seems to be a lot of Hello Kitty merchandise available on the high street at the moment, and this key ring is available from Clinton Cards. It costs £3.99 which I think is about average for this type of item.
Because there are such a vast number of rip-offs and fake Hello Kitty items, it can sometimes be difficult to tell if you are buying a genuine authentic piece. The easy way to tell is to check the item you are buying and see if there is a Sanrio mark on it. Sanrio is the company behind Hello Kitty and pals, so if you're looking at the real thing it should have their mark on there somewhere. The key ring has a little metal tag attached to the main ring which has "Hello Kitty" written on it, and on the reverse it says (c) 1979 Sanrio Co Ltd.
The key ring is light weight and compact which is great if you only have a small number of keys, or if you don't want a great big bulky key chain weighing you down. I only ever need to carry three keys - my front door, the inner porch door, and my bicycle chain - and so don't need a large key ring taking up lots of space. It's handy and practical as it fits easily inside any handbag, even tiny ones for nights out.
The product is listed on dooyoo as a 'K' key ring, but it is actually part of a complete alphabet range. You can purchase the key ring with any letter from A through to Z on it. I have the K one as my name starts with K. Simple!
The reason I love this key ring is that 1) it is super cute and 2) it's fun! You can't see the whole product from the picture so I will describe what it looks like in real life. The main charm dangles from the key ring and is attached by a segmented clasp that can twist around. The main colour is a silver toned metal which matches my keys(!) and allows the coloured section to pop against the plain background it provides. The outer silver section of the charm forms a sort of frame for the inner section. The pink oval you can see in the photo is actually separate from the silver edging, and is attached with a vertical pin through the centre. This gives the centre piece movement and it swivels around so you can see two different sides of the key ring. The photo shows the letter side, which is a simple bold black capital letter printed over a pink background with white polka dots. The other side is the better one in my opinion, and has a cute image of the traditional Hello Kitty face complete with pink coloured bow. She is also printed over a pink background with white polka dots. I think this is a really cute item and it's a neat little feature that the charm turns around to reveal two different sides.
I think girls of all ages would love this, especially Hello Kitty fans of course! I'm not sure how much use this would be to a younger girl as they probably wouldn't have any keys to put on it, but I know when I was younger all my friends had different collections of things, and key rings or badges were common items to collect. I could see this making a nice stocking filler with the seasonal gifting period approaching, and it's nice to have a personal touch by selecting whichever letter suits the intended recipient.
This is a lovely key ring that is well made and looks adorable. A perfect gift for any Kitty fan, or buy it as a treat for yourself. A nice simple way to brighten up your day!
