Advantages: they look like buzz lightyear!

Disadvantages: you can't hear a thing!

Last Christmas my 3 year old twins were spoilt rotten with toys, all sorts of characters they followed through the tv and they always had one each to try save arguments, but one toy they had between them from a family member was a set of walkie talkies, for obvious reasons.

These walkie talkies though were in fact Buzz Lightyear walkie talkies.

These can be purchased on Amazon for roughly £9.99 - £12.99.

They look fab! They would be a hit just to look at for any little toy story fan. Each walkie talkie is exactly the same, both looking exactly like Buzz Lightyear himself, with his face being the main feature covered by a see through screen - acting as his 'protective helmet' and the casing of the walkie talkie looking just like Buzz Lightyears suit, being white, green and purple. It has a long bendy blue 'antennae' with a purple tip to continue the buzz lookalike theme. He even has his star command logo on him and 'button' resemblance on his suit with a red button on him. There is an obvious small light on the front of him and on one side is the on/off switch and the other is the 'push to talk' button.

They looked very exciting when we first opened them anyway and my boys couldn't wait to pretend to be buzz lightyear flying around the house and talking to each other from one of our 3 floors.

To switch them on though I had to purchase batteries firstly as unfortunately they didn't come with any. The batteries needed for these walkie talkies are 2 x 9V batteries.

The packaging clearly states that these walkie talkies are suitable for indoor and outdoor use, which was a bonus on top of them looking just like Buzz Lightyear.

My twin boys waited eagerly as I unscrewed the back of the walkie talkies to insert the batteries required, once in I switched the on/off switch up and that little red light switched on - obviously indicating the walkie talkies were all set and ready to go. My twin boy space rangers quickly shot off to contact woody and jessie, one space ranger set off to the top floor whilst one run down to the bottom and I waited in the middle to hear their laughter and chatter. However this was not the case, before I knew it I could hear 'Mummmm i cant hear him'. Great, walkie talkies you can't hear?! makes sense don't it!

My boys brought the walkie talkies to me so we could see if maybe they were too far apart but even when stood close together you could barely hear anything, they were useless, you'd hear more whispering from room to room without the use of these.

Yes these walkie talkies look great, fit in perfectly with the toy story theme and would get any child excited, but the whole purpose of walkie talkies is to be able to communicate away from each other, and this is something you can't possibly do with these as you really can't hear anything. A little noise here and there but that is about it. I wouldn't reccomend buying these to anybody, they may look fab but it just proves the saying don't it 'don't judge something by it's looks' lol!

Summary: lovely looking walkie talkies which dont actually function like walkie talkies
