I love Bud rubber ducks. I currently have three as ornaments in my bathroom and they get used by my girlfriends daughter in the bath, athough she has found some issues with them. ---What are they ?--- Bud ducks are basically just a rubber duck, but they are available in a huge range of interesting and unique designs. They are colourful and bright and I think they have a modern design which looks great in my bathroom adding a bit of life and colour to quite a boring room. ----What design are available? ---- The Bud ducks come in a huge range of designs and colours including Biker Duck, Gothic Duck, Horror Duck, Hugs and Kisses Duck, Mc Duck, Mod Duck, Morazzan Duck, Rock Duck, Space Duck, Trooper Duck, Yupee Duck, Space Duck, Darling Duck, Trooper Duck. I currently have USA duck, Mini DJ duck, Rock duck and mini decor duck. My favourite has to be space duck and i am eagerly on the lookout to find it on sale somewhere. --How big are they--- Bud ducks come in a range of sizes between 3.5cm and 15cm in height. I currently have two medium ducks and 2 of the smaller 3.5cm ducks. ----Quality--- The ducks are made from the same material as other rubber ducks (a plastic that I can't fully identify). They seem well manufactured and the ducks I own have not faded in about 8 months of owning them. ---Price--- Dependant on size, they vary in price from £2.99 to £12.99 and vary depending on the rarity or limited availability. I bought all of mine on sale from chemical records website for between £1 and £3. At the normal price I think they are a good value ornament. ----Issues--- They may look amazing, but my girlfriends daughter has discovered that the designs can be top heavy in the bath and some designs don't stay upright when floating. She obviously doesn;t think this is good enough (personally I bought them as an ornament and it doesn't affect my rating) ---Summary--- Bright, good value ornaments. Not great as toys for the bath. Still gets 5 stars from me as I like them!
I actually have two Bud rubber ducks in different sizes neither of which I bought for myself but received as gifts. I have no idea why on earth I was bought them as A) I am a grown man and B) I don't even have a bath. They are described as being luxury rubber ducks but to be honest I am not sure where the luxury part comes in as they are just rubber ducks made from the same material as the traditional yellow ones I had as a child. What makes them different is that they have some inane writing scrawled all over them. I have never really looked to see what my ones say but looking at them today I see they say things like hugs and peace. I am probably not the best person to be reviewing these objectively as I find items with inspirational writing on them to be annoying whereas I know some other people love it. They are also coloured as opposed to being just yellow. The two I have are red and white with the writing scrawled over them. Their beaks are different colours to the body and they have painted on little eyes. Okay if I am totally honest they are quite cute looking and I suppose they would make nice stocking fillers for kids and teenagers. I was looking on amazon to find out how much they sold for and they have some really cool looking ones such as a police man and a construction worker. I would be happy to have these on my bathroom shelf as I love anything kitch and I could make up a duck village people which would be a talking point if nothing else. It's just unfortunate that I was bought ones with inspirational writing on them as it is my pet hate. They are also quite expensive for a rubber duck at between £5 and £7.50. I was completely against these ducks until I saw the other ones available which have much more novelty value for me personally. As a novelty toy these ducks are well made and quite cute but just make sure that you get a better designed one that mine. Oh and in case anyone is wondering for the purpose of research I did test the ducks and yes they do float.
For Christmas as one of our presents my mum and dad made up a basket each for me and my fiancé filled with various bath products, 'smellies' a large bath towel, as well as all of this we each got a rubber duck, my fiancé being an Ipswich fan received an Ipswich rubber duck, and myself liking absolutely anything pink got a small pink Bud Duck, Duck Love to be precise. I cannot remember if I ever had a rubber duck when I was younger, but my pink Bud Duck was extremely cute and something a bit different to the regular yellow ducks you can buy. What Are Bud Ducks? Bud Ducks have become the new rubber duck, most people as a child had a rubber duck to play with in the bath, these tended to be the regular yellow colour. However Bud Ducks, although have the standard shape and posture of regular rubber ducks come in a variety of sizes, they range from extremely small Bud Ducks on the end of keys rings to large ducks measuring around 15cm. Bud Ducks also come in a large range of colours, patterns and themes including Peace Ducks, USA Ducks, British Duck, Bikers Ducks, Construction Worker Duck and many more, and of course my extremely cute Duck love Bud Duck, you can even by Bud Duck sets. They are now described as the worlds most collectable and popular rubber duck, they certainly have over taken the popularity of the original yellow rubber duck we have always loved and what have been a part of so many peoples childhood. Packaging Now when I received my Bud Duck he had been removed from his original packaging to be placed in the basket with all of the other pink bathroom accessories, however I have been informed that he came in a plain plastic box with a leaflet informing you of other Bud Ducks you can purchase, so it seems that the packaging is quite plain and simple, however it is not the packaging you are buying but the cute little duck sat inside. My Love Duck is quite small compared to some of the ducks you can by, from chest to tail he measures about 2.5" and from the top of his head to the base he measures just over 2", he fits very nicely into the palm of your hand, personally I think he is an ideal size to have sitting on the side in the bathroom without taking up too much room. As I have said the shape of my little Bud duck is just the same a the original rubber ducks, only a smaller version, he has a small pointed tail and 2 small raised areas either side of his body to create his wings giving them the appearance of being tucked closely against his body as he swims around the bath. He has a small beak which is shaped on top and slightly open at the end and small black and white friendly eyes, on the top of his head is a small quiff of hair, adding to his all round cuteness, he also has a small U on his chest. He is made from a bright pink rubber, every part of him is pink including his beak, wings and hair. His whole body is covered in slightly darker pink hearts measuring about 0.5cm x 0.5cm, these stand out nicely against his bright pink body, he has a small heart on each cheek which almost looks as thought he is blushing, with the rest of the hearts being on his main body area. On my Bud Ducks bottom is a small amount of writing stating that he is part of the Mini ducks range of Bud Ducks, it has the word bud and the type of duck he is which is Duck Love, all of this is written in the same dark pink as his hearts, having this information on the ducks bottom means it does not detract from the duck itself, this information cannot be seen without turning him upside down. Now the next test for my little Bud Duck was the bath. Although I probably would use my Bud Duck for display in my bathroom I decided to give his a little swim in the bath, I placed him into the water and as you would expect he instantly floated and bobbed around the bath. None of his pattern rubbed off in the water and he appeared t be in the same condition as he was before I placed him into the water. From now on though I will be using my Bud Duck as decoration in the bathroom, my main concern is that if he is used in the water every day then he may retain water inside (through the small hole in the bottom of him) and become mouldy, so it is dry land only now for Love Duck, however this is just my personal choice, he could be quite easily be used in the bath on a regular basis for children or adults. Bud Ducks can be brought in many places these days both online and from the high street including various gift shops, there is even an official Bud duck website. I'm not sure where my Bud Duck came from or even how much he cost, but on the official website Duck Love would cost you £4.50, quite expensive for a rubber duck but he is worth every penny. The price of Bud Ducks varies depending on where you buy them from and also the size of the duck, on the official website the large Bud Ducks range between £11.99 and £16.00, this depends on the style of duck you are buying. Some people would say that Bud Ducks are far too expensive for a rubber duck, especially when regular rubber ducks can be purchased for a few pounds, however these have become a bit of a collectors item with people aiming to collect the whole range, personally I feel that yes they are expensive but they are much more than a plain yellow rubber duck and are worth the money, although I'm not sure I would pay out for the larger ones, however if there was a particular design I wanted in the Bud Duck range I would definitely pay for it. Overall I would recommend Bud Ducks to anyone, especially my Duck Love, not only is he extremely cute but if you are obsessed with all things pink like me he is perfect. Bud Ducks are of and excellent quality, come in a huge range of sizes and designs making them well worth the money they are sold for. There really is a design for everyone, young old, male and female, Bud Ducks are suitable for everyone whether its as a bath time toy or like me as something to brighten up you bathroom.
I am a bit of a strange person, and in my bathroom is a collection of Bud Mini Ducks. Most people have some sort of odd collections in their homes, this is just one of mine lol! Bud is a part of the company known as Present Time, who make cool and quirky gifts and novelty items. One of these ranges of novelty items is a collection of cute and cool little bathroom ducks, with a difference. There is actually a massive range of these ducks, and I am slowly building up quite a cool collection. The one pictured for this review is called Community Garden, and he is printed with leaves and colourful flowers. He also has a U symbol printed on his chest, as all the ducks do. The other ducks include American Duck, which is printed in an American Stars and Stripes pattern, with a cool American style hat. Space Duck has an orange NASA space suit and a removeable space helmet. Spooky Duck is black and printed with Halloween style images like skulls etc. Pop Art Duck is covered in different coloured dots. Loops is a brown duck with pink and purple loops and circles printed on him. Arty Duck is covered in splotches of different coloured "paint". There is many other types of these ducks, including Golf Club Duck, London Duck, Lucky Clover Duck, Pretty Duck, Ouchie Duck and much much more. It seems everytime I buy one more of these ducks, another 10 appear that I want too! I buy these ducks in Mini size, which is a perfect size in my opinion for a bathroom duck. These fit nicely into my palm, but other sizes are available. There is a medium size, which is about the size of my outstreched hand, large is even bigger and I have seen some places that sell ones that are actually the size of my face!! The ducks are made of a tough rubber, the same sort of material you get usualy bathroom rubber ducks made from. There is a hole in the bottom of each one, which I think is to help them float in the bath, but I just use it to fill up each duck with water and squirt it at people! All the ducks have their name printed on the underside of them, so you know what each one is called. The mini ducks are usually priced in between £3 and £5 depending on where you buy them from, or which style you buy. I know the largest duck (face sized) is around £45, but I am not sure of the prices on the other sized ducks. You can buy them on Amazon, which is where I get mine from and these come with free delivery also. The only place I have seen selling these on the highstreet is a store called G. There is one of these stores in Basingstoke, Hampshire. I am not sure where they have other branches of this store. I am sure if you look online you can find places that sell these ducks nearer to you. Personally, I love these ducks and they make a great feature in my bathroom, everyone loves them as they are so cute and so different. I would totally recommend these ducks to everyone, I love them and I am so glad I randomly found them one day!
Present Time Bud Spooky Big Duck absolutely rocks! If you're a fan of novelty rubber ducks, I'm pretty sure you won't be disappointed with this. It's a bit pricey with a recommended retail price of £18! But I recently snapped this up for just under £5 during one of Amazon's frequent sales. I don't think paying a tenner or so is unreasonable for this though given the quality materials that go into making it. For a gift for a duck fan, I think I might pay a bit more. This is basically exactly what you expect it to be from the title - a giant rubber duck! It's made from very thick material so it's sturdy and firm to the touch, with just a little give in the rubber when you give him a squeeze. It's important to note because if he was on the thin side, he wouldn't last long and it would make the high retail price a bit of a con. His features are all very attractive, with lots of brightly coloured funky skull and ghost pictures all over his body. He's got realistic eyes and a shiney, well detailed beak that's the same as all the other Bud Ducks that duck fans will have come to know and love. This will seem a bit out there to those who aren't a bit fond of their ducks, but collectors will love this guy sitting on the side of their bath or on display in a room in their house. I think he's top.
