My work, as I am sure lots of peoples does too, stresses me out from time to time (recently more so than ever!). Likely due to my constant moaning and tension my partner bought me one of these smiley stress balls which now lives on my work desk.
This stress ball is no different from any I have used before, bar from its appearance having the smiley face pattern. They are for the most part all made from the same material, use the same method and have equal psychological and physical results. The material used to make these is a foam rubber, which is formed by a chemical reaction after injecting liquid parts of the foam into a mould and it reacting with carbon dioxide. This method of production means that all sorts of shapes and patterns can be created for the market.
The smiley faced stress ball is made by Paladone, a company that creates numerous amounts of novelty gadgets and gizmos, many of which can be found on Dooyoo. The ball is a bright yellow colour and spherical which makes it ideal for fitting in the palm of your hand. On the yellow ball is painted the classic smiley, happy face in black, which is supposed to cheer you up! Just beneath this is written 'stress ball' in case you couldn't fathom it out. The products itself feels almost molten to touch and due to its internal contents can be put under tremendous pressure and also force from your hand and slowly mergers back into its original shape.
To use the stress ball you simply squeeze it in your hand and manipulate it with your fingers. They are generally used to either help relieve stress and muscle tension or to exercise the muscles of the hand. Mine is purely used for mental stresses, though a bit of hand exercise never hurt anyone. I find that these stress relievers really do work for me, but they are purely a personal experience and what works for one person may not work for another when it comes to psychological issues.
I often find myself subconsciously squeezing this ball and letting my mind drift away from a tense experience or anxiety I am feeling at that time. I find it particularly helpful when I have important telephone calls as it relaxes my mind having to split it in two directions rather than focus and stress over the one thing. Whatever shape/colour/pattern stress ball I have used they have all given me the same, good result and experience so I do definitely recommend them. I do not really like the colour and pattern on this stress ball; it is a bit garish for me especially for use at work. So for cosmetic reasons I am knocking a star off the rating, this is however a personal negative opinion. The stress ball does exactly what I want it to do and so practically I cannot fault it.
This currently retails for approximately £2.99 at Amazon, I have not seen it in any high street stores, though you can find lots of types of stress balls in stationary and novelty shops alike.
I purchased this stress ball with the intention of using it as a physiotherapy aid. After an accident which left me with a cut tendon in my thumb I had surgery to repair it. However, after it being in a cast for 5 weeks I was unable to move my thumb at all. Whilst awaiting physio appointments I looked online for a product that may help for me to use at home.
I thought this product would be ideal for the purpose and purchased it from Amazon for around £3.00. When the product arrived I was pleased with the size, colour and style of it. It's a yellow ball with a black smiley face on it and the words Stress ball printed beneath in black lettering.
It was just the perfect size to use with one hand. It easily fitted in to the palm of my hand. I did find it a bit difficult to use at first, simply due to the fact I had very limited movement in my thumb. So I used to warm it up a bit first with the other hand to make it a bit more pliable.
The ball is made of a thick rubber and is filled with a thick liquid so when the ball is squeezed it slowly morphs back to the original shape. It certainly seems to be a very durable product as it's now been used many times.
Having had this item for quite some time now, the writing and smiley face on the product are no longer visible. These have worn off with use. That's not an issue for me though.
Although the movement I have in my thumb has improved a great deal over time it will never be the same as before the accident. I do think this product really did help though along with the hospital physio exercises that I was given.
I do now use the ball for the purpose that it's sold for, that being for stress. I do find it quite relaxing to use this. It is a good product to relieve tension as it gives quite a calming effect.
Approximately 7 cm (diameter)
I won this stress ball at a fair quite a few years back, and whilst thinking of something to review I saw it sat on my desk. A quick dooyoo search surprised me to see it listed here.
The stress ball is bright yellow with a picture of a smiley face on it with stress ball written below it. (As if we couldn't guess what it was :P) I'm not sure where the idea of a stress balls came from but there are many that can be found. I've never actually bought a stress ball but had many freebies of them, with companies names written on them etc, they're a good marketing tool I guess. The idea behind it is to squeeze the ball when stressed and the action is meant to calm you.
The ball fits snuggly in your hand and is a great size. A quick look online and I also found it on sale at Amazon for £2.99. (It was apparently £6.99 before - I wouldn't buy it, if it was at £7 as I see it more as a novelty item and that there are better designs out there) The Amazon listing states the ball to be made out of dense foam and to be 7cm in diameter.
I don't really use the stress ball to relieve stress, and it's mainly just sat on my desk as a novelty item - when i'm bored I tend to just mess around with it either squeezing it or throwing it and catching it. I found it to be a good freebie but it's not something I would buy myself. Over time the stress ball has faded a bit, but I guess that's to be expected. The thing about a stress ball is though, that I don't see it breaking or ripping and so although the design wares out after a while.. the stress ball can still be used so the product is long lasting. I give it 5 stars as its pretty standard as stress balls go and you all know what one is.
Smiley Stress Ball!
I got one of these for Christmas and I am so glad that I did. I have never really liked the feel of them that much but once you get one you really rely on it every time you have had a really stressful day or when you just get stressed in general. I have never actually known anyone to have one in my family but I can add they are very effective and very useful!
This is a stress ball that is quite small in size. It is yellow and has a smiley face on it with stress ball written underneath. These stress balls are made by Paladone Products, not a very well known company but my mum got this from Amazon for around £3.00! That is not bad at all considering it really helps me.
Stress balls are specially trained to handle your anger. This is because they have a special liquid substance inside and a rubber material which is quite hard to press which relieves your tension every time you squeeze it! I use this after a really hard day and I find it gets me calm and relaxed within a few minutes and I am sure that it tones up your hands and lower arm!
The only problem with this is the fact that I after a few weeks of having this the writing has worn off. I am not too bothered though because it still does the job it is supposed to do!
I would recommend this stress ball to basically those who get stressed. It is not expensive and it really does work. You can try this for £2.26!!
The product I am reviewing is the " Paladone Smiley Stress Ball"
I bought this item for £2.56 from Amazon.
I really love this product, My stress levels are usually really high, my life is pretty hectic with all the deadlines I have to meet at college and everything else that goes in at home.
I love using it at the end of a stressful day, it has a calming effect, it helps in regaining energy lost during the course of a hectic day. A great plus with stress balls is that they have absolutely no side effects and can be used by individuals in any age group
Stress balls are polyurethane foam balls (or rather, shapes) intended to be squeezed. They are used not only for relieving psychological stress but also for preventing problems such as carpal tunnel syndrome that is frequent among guitarists, assembly line workers and computer operators. Stress balls are also used for exercising hand muscles and for relieving monotony.
These days, stress balls come not only in ball shapes but also in different, often amusing, shapes. The shapes include animals, medicinal pills, humans, aliens, and numerous other respectable objects.
