After receiving the aqua sand from this range for Christmas, my daughter was adamant she wanted to try the product I will now review, I was hoping this was going to be less mess than the afore mentioned!
The product I will now review is - "Moon sand - diggin for dino's".
Moon sand, for those of you who are lucky enough not to have to spend your lives searching out random new toys constantly advertised on the children's channels, is a sand like substance, that when squished together, holds it's form like play dough.
This then can be moulded into shapes, think how much easier sandcastle making would be with this stuff!
Within this set you receive only a few items, with the sand being the largest and most important part of the set.
Alongside this are one boulder shaped mould, three dinosaur skeletons, to dinosaur moulds and a small plastic pick axe.
The idea is that you should bury your dinosaur remains inside a moon sand boulder, then the child can pretend to be an archaeologist and excavate the remains, or build your own dinosaur landscape!
The sand itself (within this set anyway) comes in two colours only, an orangey brown colour and green, though as I am looking at it now it is a rather funny looking combination of both!
The sand however (even in it's mixed up state) will work for as long as you can keep it, though much has already been sucked up into the hoover!
The reason it is such a good product is that it never dries out, regardless of being exposed to the air, it stays sand like until squeezed together, with it the becoming like play dough, but is still easy enough to crumble back into it's sand form!
The only problem for me is the longevity of play that my daughter has had. Considering that this set cost me £9.99, there isn't really much in there.
This set is aimed at the age range of 3+, though as long as they don't try and eat it there shouldn't be any problems with a younger child playing with it.
