Graco Petite Bassinet Travel Cot
by barbie84
As my little one was out growing her mosses basket an didn't really like being in the bouncer or the swinging chair we had brought her I decided to look for a travel cot to have up in our living room but with not having a very large room I wanted something not too intrusive but practical.
Whilst looking online I spotted this ... travel cot, which is around half the size of the standard ones so it would go nicely in my living room without taking over the room.
It was the very first travel cot I had ever seen with a bassinet on the top for younger babies like my daughter. It was a rather simple but pleasing design, it is simply a piece that clips over the sides to mean that the base is only around a foot from the top of the cot for young babies who cannot yet sit up which at the time my daughter couldn't so was great as it meant I could get to her without leaning into the cot too far and would also have been ideal from a new born to use instead of having the mosses basket in the first place which I was a bit disappointed I had missed out on.
As well as the basinet I was pleased to be able to find this one with the hood too as this was ideal for keeping the sun off my daughter whilst she had a snooze in there as the only spare place for it was by a window so if it hadn't had this feature I would have had to attach a sun umbrella to it which wouldn't have looked as good or worked as well.
One my daughter was old enough to sit up I took the basinet part out so she couldn't fall out and used the deeper space which she loved to be in as it wasn't new to her because she had been using the same thing for months as Casey really doesn't adjust to change well at all.
As she was getting older she wasn't sleeping in it as much so it doubled as a mini play pen to be able to pop her in for a few minutes if I had to go out of the room too, it washed down easily and didn't fade from the sun light either which I was pleased about.
It is a simple design that is really easy to put u and take down, it came with a bag with a carry handle on to pack it away neatly into to travel with so would be perfect for holidays and especially in small spaces like caravans but due to its size only up until around 12 months of age.
I was lucky enough to get mine from an Argos clearance store so it was discounted in price, as they are quite expensive compared to other travel cots but in my opinion so much worth it for the extras and the fact it is compact too. Read the complete review |

Hauck Dream N Play Travel Cot in Winnie The Pooh Melon
by Karen1985
I originally purchased this travel cot for my son when he was 6 months old. I had just returned to work and he was spending the days at his Grandmas house and I wanted something for my son to nap in. I couldn't afford much at the time, and was extremely happy to find this travel cot for only £27 on special offer at Sainsburys. The cot is ... made by Hauck and is from their Dream n Play collection in a fun Winnie the Pooh Design.
My son is now 22 months, and I must confess that we have hardly used the product as an actual bed, instead choosing to use it as a play pen. The main reason for this decision was the mattress which comes with the travel cot is very thin and hard feeling. However, this could be easily solved with an extra travel mattress which can be purchased seperately. However, we chose to purchase a Mothercare travel cot from a friend which was much more comfortable.
The plus sides to this travel cot are that it is very compact when folded. It can easily fit into the smallest of car boots for portability. It also features fun pictures of winnie the pooh and bright colours for babies comfort and entertainment. The sides of the cot are in a see through mesh fabric which means it is easy to see baby and what he is up to when sleeping or using as a play pen. The travel cot comes with a carry bag as well, and is lightweight, another bonus for travel.
The downsides to this cot are that we found the assembly of the product fiddly. It was not always easy to click the sides into place and you could feel that the overall structure was not of the highest quality. However, this is clearly reflected in the price as it is regularly on special offer at £30 or less brand new, which is a bargain compared with many other brands. I feel this really is a case of you get what you pay for.
If you are looking for a travel cot to use for occassional weekend travel or over night stays, this would come highly recommended by myself. I also recommend it for use as a play pen, up to approx age 18-24 months as after this time baby is too boistorous and will no doubt be capable of toppling the product over or damaging it in some other form which could cause harm to themselves.
I would not recommend the product as a travel cot if you are planning on using it on a very regular basis as we were, as unless you purchase an additional mattress, it will not be comfortable for baby. Read the complete review |

Hauck Travel Cot
by madeindevon
Nearly four years ago our first Grandchild was born - Thomas - from birth the little lad was the most wonderful baby and as new Grandparents we were lucky enough to live close enough to Thomas and his Mum & Dad and were able to have Thomas come to stay overnight with us.
At first he arrived with a large amount of pastel ... chaos! A moses basket and stand, along with all the other bits and pieces he needed for the night - but within no time at all we started collecting various things to keep in our house, in preparation for his visits.
The first main item we bought was a travel cot from Tesco.
The prices for Travel cots have gone down considerably, I remember buying something very similar for my little son when he was born, which was about 19 years before. I am pretty certain that I paid around £25 then, and this cot that I bought from Tesco was on a special offer at £25 - I have checked online on Tesco's web site today (April 2013 and this particular model is on a special offer still, it is £25, reduced down from £32)
I believe that this Hauck Dream n Play Travel cot is available in various colours, the one we have is mainly light blue, with navy blue contrasting edges.
The cot can be used from birth, until the child is a maximum weight of 15 kilogrammes
Once erected it is 78cm high, 76cm wide and 110cm deep and it weighs 10 kilogrammes
All the four sides have wipeable vinyl type borders and stretchy mesh centre.
The cot is very easy to put up - you pull it into shape and turn the semi circle shaped levers on the two long sides until they click firmly into place. This then holds the cot in a rigid position. Once the cot is rigid you then place the wipeable mattress into place - and that's it! It takes literally one or two minutes to put up.
To put away you do the same, you take the mattress out, turn the levers on the side to make the cot flexible again and it folds up into an oblong shape, the mattress then gets wrapped around the outside of the oblong shaped frame (with the underneath part of the mattress being on the outside) and it fastens up with strong velcro - the cot is then an oblong shape around 10 inches square and a metre high. It also comes with a bag that fits snugly around the whole cot, once totally packed away. Easy to assemble, easy to put away and takes up the minimal amount of space.
Due to the mesh sides all the way around, we have also used the cot when we have all been in the garden - instead of a play-pen. The wipeable sides and matress mean that drinks and snacks can be eaten in the cot and it is very easy to clean.
Obviously the wipeable mattress would be uncomfortable for any baby to sleep on, so I personally always put a soft blanket or something similar underneath the sheet, otherwise I think the baby would get rather hot and sticky.
We now have two more grandchildren and they have all spent plenty of time in the travel cot, they are perfectly happy to be in it and always settle to sleep very well.
Great Product, very useful and four years on, still in very good condition - plenty of sleep-overs in it yet Read the complete review |
