Advantages: Price, availability, looks, ease of use, eyecatching.
Disadvantages: fully wound it only lasts as long as it takes mum for a quick wee (new mums will understand)
I bought this cot mobile whilst pregnant, not knowing wether I was expecting boy or girl I had already decided that I wasnt doing pink or blue and neither did I like Winnie The Pooh!!
I bought it from Argos alongside the Beanstalk Playmat and some Beanstalk pram toys. They were all on offer at the time on a 3 for 2 offer so cost me a bargain £30 for the lot.
The Beanstalk range is basically products from birth up to toys for up to the age 5 mark. They are jungle animals and the range is usually green based with lots of bright yellows and orange.
The cot mobile that I purchased had a green plastic frame with 4 different brightly coloured animals hanging down. It is from an older catalogue and not quite as pictured now.
The mobile was self assembly and Im proud to say that even at 8 and 1/2 months pregnant I managed this on my own!
The frame came in two pieces and easily locked together. The animals hung on two seperate pieces that attached criss-crossed then the soft bodied animals just hooked on.
It attaches easily to any size cot frame in a clamp type plastic device that left no marks on the cot wood at all.
My daughter loved this cot mobile, although I must say that she got the most enjoyment from it from around 18 months as she liked to wind it up by herself and play with the detachable animals!
As a baby though it did keep her attention although the music did stop after only a couple of minutes. Excellent for keeping mum sane methinks!
The best feature for me was NO batteries!
As a parent you'll understand the importance of this as you struggle to keep up with the battery demand!
All in all Id highly recommend this product especially for the price - currently retailing at Argos for £14.99 - I have also seen lots of these selling on ebay so you may be able to get the older style green frame.
It definately does the job, is great for those that want greens and yellows rather than the pinks and blues. It costs nothing to maintain other than a little wrist action and in my case was used for at least 18 months!
Summary: Try this beanstalk range- excellent value for money

- 02/05/09 It's difficult not to do pink with a daughter isn't it? I've found that if you don't, the relatives will! |
