I bought this last year for my oldest son who was 6 at the time. He is a huge Ben 10 fan and was always complaining that his bedroom was boring. I saw this zipperobe and thought it was ideal for the price (I paid £32 in the Argos sale) because then when he is ready for 'grown up' furniture I wouldn't have wasted a lot of money.
The zipperobe comes flat packed but is very simple to put up, it didn't take me more than 15 minutes to do and once erected it is suprisingly sturdy. It stands on 4 legs and doesn't wobble when moved. The zipperobe when assembled measures H160 x W90 x D50cm. It is made from a plastic frame.
The zipperobe is made from a non woven polypopylene material which is breathable so the clothes are kept fresh. It is also easy to clean, you just wipe over with a damp cloth.
Inside the zipperobe are 2 hanging rails. One on the to and one on the bottom. They are a perfect height for a young childs clothes and leave plenty of space so they don't overhang. There is also a storage basket which hangs from the top rail. It has 3 shelves and is ideal for storing shoes. The storage basket is removable if you just want the extended rail. The measurements of the basket is H62 x W30 x D30cm.
The zipperobe has a zip to open and close it and the zip goes from the top to the bottom. When the zip is closed you can see the above image. It is very bright and colourful and my son loves having it in his room.
The only problem I had with this item is the bottom of it. Although the fabric slips easily over the plastic frame and it pulls nice and tight, the base of the zipperobe has a lot of loose fabric. It didn't feel sturdy when we put things on the bottom of it, it kept drooping slightly. We solved it by getting a piece of plywood and slotting it along the bottom so now it has a solid base.
This zipperobe is a great idea for kids. My son wasn't quite old enough for big boys furniture that would last him through to teenage years, but he had outgrown the little boys furniture that had previously been in his room. This solved the problem perfectly, it keeps his room tidy, looks good and was a good prce compared to how much we would have paid for a wardbrobe. I would definately recommend it.
My five year old son, loves anything to do with Ben 10. Which is really funny because he has never actually seen the Ben 10 cartoon. He is more intrested in Bob the builder and fireman Sam, but there is something about the vivid colours of the Ben 10 merchandise that captures his attention every time.
For Christmas last year, he wanted his room re decorated. He was adamant that he wanted a Ben 10 bedroom. I was quite pleased with this decision, as I am also very fond of the bright greens and attractive yellows that help make up the Ben 10 logo. I think it is very attractive and colourful. Also Ben 10 is quite a popular cartoon hero, which continues to be popular with both younger and older children. This is great as hopefully, I won't have to do his room out again for a few years.
After I had bought the bedding, curtains, clock, chair etc. I wanted to replace his wardrobe. The wooden wardrobe looked quite boring compared to the brightness of the rest of the decor and I wanted a peice of furniture that would make a statement. I decided to have a look on the internet for some inspiration. It wasn't long before I came across the Ben 10 zipperobe. One look at this impressive wardrobe made me certain that this would be both ideal for storage and a great addition to my sons bedroom decor.
The zipperobe is available in numerous places over the net. But after researching I found that the cheapest price for this item was in Argos where the zipperobe was retailing for £40. I was quite impressed with this price as it is certainly a great statement peice of furniture. Very cool, something any little boy would be thrilled to have in his bedroom. However I was also nervous, as I was dubious as to it's durability. I really didn't want to fork out £40 on a wardrobe that only lasted a short while.
Eventually, I decided to give the zipperobe a try. I reserved a zipperobe from Argos and picked it up with no problems at all. The zipperobe was especially easy to assemble. Although, I have to admit my husband assembled it. I supervised though and was suprised at how straight forward the assembling process was. There were instructions included, but my husband didn't need them. As it is fairly self explanitry.
The inside of the zipperobe consists of a plastic frame of poles. (a bit like a wendy house. You then put the Ben 10 cover over the frame ands there is a zip up the front which opens out, so you can get into the wardrobe. There is also two horizontal plastic poles inside the wardobe, which enable you to hang clothes on. I was very pleased with the sturdiness of the plastic poles. As they are strong enough to withhold a good supply of hung up clothes.
To the left hand side of the zipperobe, There is a canvas shelving unit. This is attached easily to the top of the 'plastic pole roof'. This canvas shelving unit consists of five compartments. I was extremely impressed with the amount of folded jumpers and t shirts that this shelving unit could hold. Again it is well made and sturdy. Witholding quite a lot of weight. I did feel though that this zipperobe could have done with a few more shelves.
What I also loved about this zipperobe is that there is a large space for two plastic boxes at the very bottom. I love this area as I am able to store my sons jeans and trousers in the bottom of this zipperobe. There is so much space that everything is able to be stored really neatly.
I am well impressed with the durability of this zipperobe. I have used the zip to open and close the wardrobe every day since Christmas and I am pleased to report it is sturdy and of exceptional quality. I have hung quite a lot of my sons coats within this wardrobe and it has held the weight of these item with ease. The Ben 10 canvas covering is bright, colourful and again very durable. The canvas covering also holds its shape and does not rise up to expose the clothing within.
Best of all, my son and all his friends think that this zipperobe is amazing. It always manages to raise compliments and my son is incredibly proud of his bedoom. I think for £40 you can't go wrong with this product. It is made to an excellent quality. It is certainly not cheap or poorly made. I would not hesitate in recommending this product to anyone who wishes to make their boys bedroom into a cool and exciting place to call their own.
