Advantages: Entertaining.

Disadvantages: Only lasts a minute or so before needing winding up again., Difficult for newborns to see., Expensive to replace batteries.

Although I thought that dreamshows looked pretty, I was determined to resist buying one for my son. I believe that a baby goes to bed to sleep not to be visually stimulated by lights whizzing above their heads. I was however given one of these as a gift.

The dreamshow fits on the cot side and baby can either watch the animated pictures projected onto the ceiling or view then on a small screen attached to the side of the device. When very young, my son could not focus on the ceiling and therefore the screen was essential for his enjoyment.

The dreamshow has to be wound up by hand and the show lasts around a minute. It also play a tune as the projection takes place. I used it during the day time with blackout curtains simply as a means of entertaining him.

I had to take it off the cot however when he was only a few months old as he used to grab it and bash it repeatedly on the side of the cot during the night. I still use it now but it is attached to a wardrobe.

The dreamshow requires 4xC battereis which are about £6 99 and therefore quite expenive. I wouldn't buy another but they do make a nice gift.

Summary:
