A great swing, but expensive for how long you get to use it!

I bought this swing when my baby was around 2 months old, as I wanted something that would gently rock him to sleep. I paid £54.99 for this swing on Amazon, but have since seen it elsewhere like babies r us for £84.99. I would not have paid that amount of money for it as there are better ones out there for that price, but for £54.99 I am more than happy with this swing.

This swing has quite a deep seat, and it sort of hugs your baby in it, maybe to make them feel like they are being held. It has a harness which goes over their shoulders and around their hips to keep them safe and secure, so they cannot fall out. My son is just starting to try and sit up on his own, and is almost tipping out of this seat without the harness over his shoulders fastened tightly! We used to just use the harness around his hips just like you would with a bouncer because this was more than enough to keep him safe in it, but now he's trying to be a bit more mobile, the straps over the shoulders are essential.

The frame this comes with is like an off cream colour, which looks old fashioned and dated, and had I seen it in the shop before I bought it I would not have chosen it. However when it was delivered off Amazon online I just decided to keep it rather than looking for another one. The seat is nice and colourful with pictures of animals on it.

The first one I received I sent back as this swing is suppose to have 5 swing settings and we couldn't tell the difference in the speed of the swing on all five settings, it seemed to swing much too fast for my 2 month old. Amazon sent me another one, and we have the same thing with this one too, there is only a very slight difference in the swing speeds, there might as well just be one setting. This swing I feel swings much too fast for such a young baby, my son is now 6 months and absolutely loves being in this swing. It definitely is for an older baby, about 4 months is when I felt this swing was suitable for my baby.

My son spends loads of time just sat in his swing, he loves the toy above him, which is a rhino with a baby rhino on it's back, he can just about reach it now and he loves batting at it. This is hung from a bar above your babies head for them to play with and this bar moves out the way to get your baby in and out of the swing easy.

This swing also has music, with 6 different songs, soothing songs and more upbeat ones too. You can have it on quiet or loud. It also has a button to turn on the vibrations in the seat, but this makes such a loud noise, I don't use it, my son doesn't seem bothered about it either when it's on. For the vibrations you need 1 D battery, and for the swing you need 4 C batteries. All these baby toys my son has got are costing me a fortune in batteries!

My son weighs around 18 pounds and you can see the swing is now going slower, I think it is struggling with the weight of my baby now, the box says it can take a baby up to 20 pounds, so for £85 for this swing in some places, you don't get very long to use it!

There is a latch on the bottom of the frame which you can lock onto the swing so it doesn't move when you are getting your baby in and out of it. The frame feels sturdy, but you can see when it is swinging it does lift up off the floor ever so slightly, I don't thing the frame is heavy enough for the swing. The frame could have been better for the price. The seat is washable, it all comes off and can go in the washing machine. It is not very compact, it is bulky to travel with, but lightweight to carry without a baby in it, if you want to move it round the house to different rooms.

My baby loves just sitting in this swing playing with a toy, and quite often nods off whilst in it. Sometimes when he is crying and I have tried all sorts to settle him, this swing has been such a help! It always rocks him to sleep, works every time! I would highly recommend a swing if you really want one for your baby, mine has enjoyed being in it many times, but they don't last long. My baby is now too big at just 6 months old! However I am glad I bought it, and will keep it in the box in the loft for my next baby!
