Advantages: bright and keeps baby's attention, lasts long enough to get them to sleep and the remote
Disadvantages: mobile mechanism is quite noisy
I purchased this mobile after being so impressed by the Rainforest playmat jungle (see my other review). I got this from Argos list price was £38 however, as I signed up to Bounty.com I received loads of money off vouchers to use in Argos, so I only paid £33.
It was very easy to assemble and seems a very sturdy design. It also appears that it will fit on most cot beds.
It has very bold colours which attracts the attention of my little girl. The mobile toys go round and the leaves go up and down, which are very hipnotic. It plays either jungle noises, Bach, Motzart or Beethoven which goes on for about 20 mins (not sure exactly), which seems long enough to keep my daughters attention allowing her to drift of to sleep and not notice that she has been left on her own.
There is a night light on the inside which you have to option to have the mobile on its own, mobile and light, light on its own. There is also two volume levels.
You can only use the mobile attachment until the child is about 5 months old, then you can remove it and it turns into a light box. Therefore even though it is a bit costly the life of this is longer than just plain mobiles.
Another great feature is the remote control. After the time runs out, you can use the remote control from the door of the bedroom to restart the mobile and music without going up to the cot and disturbing your baby. This is brilliant as my little one is not keen on being left on her own, and likes to see her mummy when she goes to sleep (her cot is right next to our bed and she sleeps looking towards us). With the mobile it keeps her attention, but if I go anywhere near the cot she will cry out for me.
Bad points, the movement of the mobile is quite noisy (if you are sharing a room and like it silent - however I quite like it) and the quality of the music is average, probably as much as expected from a childs toy (I live with a musician and we both appreciate good music), put it this way, you wouldnt listen to it to hear your favourite Bach!
Comparing to a friends mobile who bought it to go with the decor in her nursery, it was not as expensive but it is silver and white, and wind up which only lasts a few minutes. It might have looked cute and went with the room, but it doesnt really do what a mobile is meant to do - help you child get to sleep without being reliant on the parent helping them to sleep.
Summary: Brilliant mobile which will last a long time as it turns into light box
