“ Brand: Galt / Type: Mobiles „
I have this in my car for my grandchildren. It has been used by us for various grandchildren now and helps to give them something to look at.
It looks like a flower with a green stem which is the part that connects it to the window and has little bugs hanging down from it. It gives children something to look at whilst they are travelling along. I always position this so it is way out of their reach so that they are not tempted to try to reach it, I am worried that if they do get a grip of one of the little toys that they will pull it and it will fall off the window which could hurt them or make me jump whilst driving so I only ever use this for them to look at not actually touch.
It is brightly coloured so attracts their attention and whilst I'm driving the little creatures swing a bit which draws their attention even more. My youngest grandchild is fascinated by this at the moment, he can just about focus on it and smiles when they move.
It stays on the window fine, it's very secure. I was worried it would fall off and hit them but so far it has stayed on and we have had no problems with it.
It is lovely, it's not got too much on it so it's not overwhelming which is a good thing I think if it had too many things to focus on it could be frustrating seeing as I always put it out of their reach.
A good way to distract your babies whilst driving.
When we used to go out in the car, my daughter used to get bored and to be honest I can't say I can blame any child of a young age getting bored. No matter what anyone did for my daughter whilst we were travelling she would still occassionally wriggle, squirm and let out little rips of anger!
I came across this Galt Drivetime mobile on eBay and thought that it would be a good idea for my daughter. It was something that I thought would keep her mind active and she could try and grab something. She just needed a little activity.
When it arrived I was fairly pleased with it. The Drivetime mobile looked like a flower. The stalk was green with a large yellow sunflower on the end with a little ladybird, bee and butterfly hanging from it on string. The idea behind the Drivetime mobile was that at the end of the green stalk, there was a sucker which suckered to the window and you could obviously determine how high or low it would be from your baby. An absolute genius idea!
Each of the bugs were brightly coloured - the ladybird was a bright red with black spots, the bee was bright orange with black stripes and the butterfuly was blue with bright yellow spots on its body. Each of them was made of a different material and different textures. The bee had crinkle wings which made that crisp packet noise, the ladybird had raised spots (if I am remembering correctly) and the butterfly I sadly cannot remember what it did.
My daughter did really like it and it did work in keeping her occupied. She used to really like seeing the bugs swinging about as the car moved and as she got a bit bigger she would try to grab at them. At this stage when she did grab them she used to pull at them and then when she was pulling at them it used to slip down the window. And this is where diaster would strike and my daughter would look at the mobile that was now in her hand enough to say "Well, that was a bit stupid". No matter how many times it was reattached as soon as any force was put on it, it would come back down again.
I would say we got a good bit of use from this for about 2 months before our daughter could stretch high enough to grab at the bugs and pull it down. Even though it did come down I still think it is a great idea and perfect for those few months where your baby cannot reach it. Though I have to admit the novelty does wear off a little bit eventually! I do think the only thing that could be improved upon would be the amount of things on the mobile and maybe adding a musical element as it is very basic but I do recommend it if you can pick one up.
I think it is fair to say that my son was a nightmare baby when it came to travelling. Whilst my daughter would be sleeping fast by the time the car reached the end of the road. My son would constantly cry and wriggle around. I must admit, I was finding it hard to concentrate and if my husband was driving we would end up arguing because we were both so stressed with the situation.
My friend was really sympathetic and kindly bought a Galt drivetime mobile. I was so thrilled with this genius idea. I didnt even know that you could purchase this kind of item. I can't even begin to describe the feeling of joy I felt that the screaming car journeys may be over.
The Galt drivetime mobile is a large sunflower design. The green arm of the mobile attaches to the window by a large sucker. The yellow soft felt sunflower hangs over baby's head with cute little soft fabric bugs attached to string hanging from the flower. The bugs are made up of different fabrics. This is excellent as baby can be kept amused by the different textures. Such as the crinkle feel of the bugs wings.
In theory, this drivetime mobile was the answer to all our problems. However, It didnot live up to our expectations. The one problem which left me more frustrated than before, was that the suction cap which attaches to the window often became loose and would fall. This just made my son more upset. When the suction cap stayed in place, my son showed a small amount of intrest in the mobile. However, I don't think that there was enough to keep him stimulated for long.
As he got older, he was able to reach out and pull at the bugs thus causing the suction to come loose. My son was far more amused by my frustration as I would reattach the mobile for the upteenth time.
I do like this mobile. I think it is a simply genius idea. The only thing that lets it down is the actual design of the mobile. I think that it could most certainly be better made. The suction cap which attaches to the window is quite poor in it's ability to stay in place. I love the idea of the sunflower, as it can be used by both boys and girls. But, I wish there were a few more features in order to keep baby entertained.
The brightness of the mobile is very effective. Visually this mobile really attracts one's attention. It's just a shame that the quality isn't all that great.
I got this for my daughter to keep her amused in the car. It is very colourful and stimulating but I wouldnt recommend it for older babies.
I would recommend it highly for smaller childrenas my daughter would sit watching it for ages and loved it. It even stopped her crying in the car which was nothing shirt of a miracle!!!!!!
At a certain age she got fed up of it and was able to reach up to it and grab it. I had it as high on the window as was possible.
And it does tend to slip down the window a bit so you have to make sure it is up high, but you would do this anyway to make sure the baby is safe.
