Gro-Egg Room Thermometer
Advantages: Cheap, easy to understand
Disadvantages: Have to plug it in, no batteries
I was given this as a gift for my baby this Christmas by a friend. I am actually really pleased with it, I would never have bought a thermometer this expensive myself, but it is a nice gift to receive and I use it now every day. This is priced at around £15 in places like John Lewis, Amazon. This is a lovely thermometer for the price.
This thermometer is shaped like an egg and it isn't too big or bulky. It is around 20cm in height, and is really lightweight. You do not need batteries for this thermometer you plug it in at the wall. This was the only problem for me, finding a surface free to put it on near a plug socket, I think I would prefer it if it was battery powered, so I could take it from room to room more easily. My baby sometimes sleeps downstairs in the day, and plays downstairs most of the time, so I have to keep unplugging it and taking it downstairs and plugging it in again, to make sure the room temperature is right downstairs too.
This thermometer is very different to other normal thermometers. It does display the temperature on the front, but you don't have to worry about the exact temperature as the Gro-Egg lights up different colours to show you if the room is too hot or cold. It lights up blue if the room is too cold, and if the room is perfect the Gro-Egg is yellow. When it gets a little warm it goes orange, and finally red if the room is too hot. Once you are used to what colour means what, you can simply just look at the grow eggs colour to see if you need to alter the room temperature, or just add or remove layers for your baby. I think this is such a good invention! For people who don't really know what temperature the room should be in, this is perfect at letting you know if it's too hot or cold for your baby.
The Gro-Egg looks cute in my babies room, and the light is quite bright too. It allows me to see my baby when I check on him during the night, but it is not too bright to disturb him. It doesn't allow enough light to see what you are doing properly, like feeding or changing them in the night, just a nice glow to see your baby better in the dark to check on them.
I have tested this against two thermometers I already had in the house, and the temperature is accurate. This Gro-Egg gives me peace of mind that the temperature is comfortable for my baby, and if it changes I can see clearly, and adapt the room as soon as I see it change colour. I love the look of the Gro-Egg, it is cute, it doesn't look ugly like other room thermometers do, and I love that it can be used as a night light too. I am very impressed with this Gro-Egg, I would definitely recommend purchasing, it is definitely worth £15, I would have thought it would have cost a lot more than that, I was surprised when I looked it up on google, as it is a strong and sturdy egg too, and can see it lasting for years. If you are wondering which thermometer to get for your babies room, definitely get one of these!
