Gro-Egg Room Thermometer
Disadvantages: See review
This gro egg room thermometer is advertised as being peace of mind at a glance and I have to say for us it most certainly is, unlike a standard room thermometer where you need to know and remember what the safe temperatures are with this it does it all for you, if the room is too cool it turns blue so you know to add another blanket, close the window or put the heating on. If it is yellow the room is at a perfect temperature for your baby and if it turns red your room is too warm so you need to open a window, turn the heating off or remove a layer of blankets on your baby. This I think is fantastic when you are awake as you can simply see if the temperature is correct but I do feel it could be improved slightly by having an alarm on it that beeped when the temperature got too hot or too cold to alert you when you are asleep of a night and cant see the colour change.
The temperature reading on this is done by a digital thermometer so is a lot more accurate at getting it right than other room thermometers that are not digital. As well as the glow there is a lcd screen with the temperature on it so you know how much too high or too low in temperature your room is which is great in the day as seeing the colours are more difficult in a well lit room, especially when the sun is on the room too.
This runs on mains power and comes supplied with the power lead which is good as it means you dont need to change batteries or worry about your batteries running out but I do think if it were battery operated it would make it more easy to use it in different rooms, if it were battery operated I would probably move it around the house with Jamie so in the day it would be in the living room as well as in the bedroom of a night but as I have to unplug it and plug it back in I tend to just leave it in the bedroom and use it of a night.
This retails at £21.95 but it is available on Amazon for just £14.66 which is where I got mine from a few months ago and you can also purchase animal covers to go on them, I have the penguin one for ours which I have previously reviewed.
As well as doing the job intended by letting me know the temperature of the room this also gives off a nice glow next to the cot of a night acting as a nice soft night light so I can check on Jamie without turning other lights on so I would recomend this to anyone looking for a combined night light and thermometer.
Summary: A nice addition
