      A very nice cot bed

When looking for the cot for our first baby we wanted something that looked a bit different to all the other cots we had seen. We saw this cot bed in babies R us and fell in love with it.

It is a nice chunky dark wood which looks a lot more pricey then it is £179.99. There are the normal type bars either side and at the bottom and top are solid panels. On the top side is the very cute engraving of the rabbit and teddy and the words 'i love my bear'. Again this little detail makes it look very expensive, it is also very cute which is what I wanted.

There is a teething rail along the edges of the bars and this has stopped my little boy chewing them. However he has chewed the top and bottom panels! This is a bit annoying as because it is dark wood it is very noticeable where he has chewed it as it is a lot paler wood!

Underneath your cot you get a draw. I liked this as it is quite a deep draw and its handy to store all of his blankets and sheets in it. However it doesn't go as far back as the cot which I was slightly disappointed with as I assumed it would.

The mattress part can be set onto two different heights, higher up when your baby is little in order for it to be easier for you to put your baby in and the second is lower for when your child can sit and stand so that they can't fall out. The side rails also come off, so that once your child is old enough it can become there bed. My child is 2 and still in this and he still doesn't take up much of the bed so it's great to see he'll get a lot of use out of it for a few more years yet.

It was quite an easy piece to put together and all of the instructions were very self explanatory,

Overall this is a cot I would recommend as I love it as much as the first day we bought it.

When I was pregnant with my daughter, I had no idea what kind of theme to do for my nursery, however when I received a large giftbox of presents from my friends at work there were quite a few items from the I Love My Bear range from Babies R Us. I thought this was so cute it just made my mind up that it was exactly what I was looking for. Me and my mum went off to Toys R Us and went straight to the Babies R Us section and were just overwhelmed with the large range of things available for the nursery!

One thing I was quite desperately needing was a cot and as soon as I set eyes on the I Love My Bear cot bed I knew I just had to buy it. I had to order the cot as there were none in stock - to my disappointment!! - but it arrived within a week so there wasn't really a problem, I was just fed up as I am one of those people who wants something and wants it now!

When the cot arrived, my mum came down to help me build it, and thank goodness she did as it wasn't very easy and I would have really struggled to build it on my own. It took us around half an hour which I guess isn't too bad. The cot has a fixed side and a drop down side which is great as it is quite a lean over the side when it isn't lowered! At the head end of the cot, there is a lovely picture of the bear which faces into the cot so baby can see it, and at the opposite end it is just plain but there is the same picture of the bear on the outside of the cot. One thing I like about this cot bed is that when baby outgrows the cot, the bars come off and the end of the cot is replaced by a smaller end so it looks just like a bed rather than a cot.

To lower the side of the cot, you simply press your leg against the bars at the bottom and then it easily just drops down and when you have finished it just lifts back up and clicks back into place. The cotbed has three mattress positions so to start with I had it on the highest position so it was easier to lift my baby in and out. When she got to the sitting up and pulling herself up stage I put it to the lowest position for extra safety so there was no danger of her falling out. There are teething rails on the side bars to protect your baby's little mouth and teeth, which is a fantastic thing in my opinion and it also helps to cushion the blow if your baby falls onto the bar.

***Please note I purchased the cream finish version of this cotbed***

The cost of the cotbed was £189.99 which I think is a good price for what you get, although the mattress doesn't come with it so that is an added price - I think the one I chose was around £60.00 or £70.00 (because I wanted a good quality lasting one). It does work out quite expensive but I wanted something that would last and that turned into a bed too as I think to buy a cot and then a bed when my daughter outgrew her cot would have worked out more expensive.

Initially I put my daughter to bed in her moses basket, but rather than have it on the moses stand I placed it in the cot. I did this for two reasons, one being that I wasn't overly confident with the stand and I was paranoid that it might either tip over or buckle, and secondly she would see the bars in the cot when she awoke so she wouldn't be as scared when sleeping in the cot properly for the first time.

I am so happy with this cotbed, it is just fantastic quality and over two and a half years down the line it is showing no sign of any wear and tear at all and my daughter now likes to use it as a trampoline!!! I would highly recommend this to all parents, and while I have nothing to compare it to as such I am not sure I would have found better!
