Advantages: Useful, Cheap, Sturdy and Durable

Disadvantages: None

I brought the Ikea Forsiktig Stool about 3 years ago. My daughter was toilet training at the time and I was on the look out for a stool for her to reach the toilet and the sink on her own. The main selling point of this particular stool was the fact it cost just £2.50!

The Forsiktig Stool is quite plain looking, nothing special but nice enough and neutral enough to fit in to most bathrooms etc. It's white with blue spots on top and is unisex. The stool only comes in one colour and one design. The stool is smooth and has no sharp bits, the corners are rounded and very safe. The blue spots on top are actually an anti-slip cover, which ensures that little ones are safe and stable when standing on the stool. On the bottom of the stool is an anti-slip protector which ensures the stool doesn't slip out and move from underneath you. The anti-slip protector was an important feature for us as we have potentially dangerous tile flooring in the bathroom. Thankfully there have been no incidents whilst using the Forsiktig Stool.

The stool is made of plastic and is easy to wipe clean. The plastic is quite thick and the stool is very sturdy. It can easily take the weight of an average adult (which is handy as I've used it on the odd occasion to reach things high up and change light bulbs!). The size of the stool is just right. The dimensions are 37cm wide, 24cm deep and 13cm high. There is plenty of room for children to place their feet but it's also compact enough to store away behind the toilet and under the sink etc. Whilst the stool is very sturdy whilst in use, it's also very lightweight to pick up and move around which is essential for little ones to adjust the stool and move it to where they need to.

My daughter used the Forsiktig Stool during toilet training and beyond. It was mostly used for getting on/off the toilet and reaching the sink with ease. It was a great toilet training tool and really encouraged independence (which she loved). It's still being kept in the bathroom to this day and is still used from time to time. She will occasionally use the stool to reach something in the bathroom or kitchen. It's very durable and is showing no signs of wear and tear. I fully recommend, especially for the price!

Summary: Good quality stool by Ikea.
