Advantages: Very practical
Before we bought one of these we would struggle to get Hope to do things, now we have one I have no idea how we managed without it! For just a couple of pounds this little step has served us very well and continues to do so. It is well worth what we paid for it and is perfectly practical for a variety of tasks.
Being small must be fun, you can do so much, get into small places, run around without being spotted... yet there's also a lot of things you can't do too and we found that when Hope reached about 18 months old she needed a bit of a help to do things but sometimes wouldn't want my husband or I to help her. She wanted to be independent and do it all by herself so a little step like this proved to be a perfect answer.
It is a little plastic step which is about 20cm off the floor and is quite wide so it is sturdy. It is really important that it's sturdy as it is little people who are using it and so it needs to be able to withstand them jumping on and off it without giving much thought to their sense of gravity! It has little blue raised bumps on the top of it which make it look attractive as though the blue circles are a pattern but actually these serve a practical purpose- they make it so that the step isn't too slippery and it gives a surface area for feet to grip. On the side of the step are two holes on one side and two on the other this is for moving it around, you can simply put your fingers through the holes and carry it or move it which is quite useful. On the bottom of the step is rubber which means that when it's on a floor such as tiling or wood it isn't likely to be able to slide which again is really important as this is often used on the tiles on the bathroom.
The step has a small curve on one edge which makes it possible to be put against the toilet so that a little person can use it to help get onto the toilet. Everything about the design of this step is very practical aimed with safety as well as usefulness at the forefront.
It is all plastic except for those few rubber bits and so it is easy to clean which again is important seeing as it is often kept in the bathroom. I spray it with an antibacterial spray about once a week and give it a good clean to make sure that it isn't harbouring any germs from having been in the bathroom.
It is really so useful. Hope (and now our baby too) use it to do tasks which they couldn't before. Hope can now brush her teeth by herself by just standing on this she can reach the taps and her tooth brush with no problem. She can also step onto the toilet too and feel safe knowing that the step is just beneath her to step onto afterwards.
It is really practical and has helped us massively, Hope has been able to carry out little jobs which have made her feel as though she is a big girl without mummy and Daddy helping and it's meant that it's freed us up to carry on with things whilst she is a big girl. It is really practical in it's design and so we're really happy with it.
