Ive bought this bed for my little girl to move into from her cot but when its put up its HUGE! and so much bigger than i expected it to be that ive since been out and bought a junior bed so my little girl isnt thrown into a bed at the deep end. its a lovely little bed though, the animals ion the head and foot boards make it look so nice and ikea do other bits in the same range to match also. Its very sturdy when built and its very easy to put together too,only took me and my dad about half an hour to build it up. as always with ikea the mattress is a funny sioze so you have to buy the correct one from them or you end up paying around £130 for one off the ... We needed two beds, one for each of our 4 year old children. These beds fitted the bill perfectly. The frame of the beds are solid wood, and it's unfinished so that meant they could easily be paint with ordinary house hold paint to match their bed rooms (one was painted pink and one blue, a couple of years late the blue was then painted red without any problem). I paid £37 each for the bed with a mattress, which I think is excellent value. The bed is about 3/4 the size of a single bed but is perfect children 2-6 years old and in small bedroom can give them more floor space while still giving them a bed big enough to sleep in comfort. I was fairly determined that when my son was too big for his cot he would go straight into a regular bed. In my textbook world I couldn't see any reason why a smaller toddler bed would be required. However. A number of things worked in unison to mean that this ideal was not achieved, the most relevant being that my son was the biggest sleeping fidget you've ever met. He stayed still for no more than about 2 minutes at a time and it was a bit of a joke that I'd go and check on him before bed, finding him in one position, comment upon it to mu husband who would then go in and find him in a completely different position.
