      cute furniture

I bought my daughter the Mammut range of furniture from IKEA last year after previously having a canvas wardrobe and no drawers in her room. The chest of drawers cost me £77 and comes in two colours pink and red and pale blue and dark blue.

The drawers come flat packed in one single box, I found the box heavy although I managed to lift it alone, it weighs about 38kg.

The drawers took me about 90 minutes to build, the frame part of the drawers was easy to construct but the drawers were fiddly, in fact I have never constructed flat pack drawers in this way, they are very sturdy and held together by a metal frame. You also have to fit the metal runners for the drawers which was fiddly and the parts weren't labelled particularly well.

The drawers consist of a red frame which is very thick and made of fibre board covered in acrylic paint. The drawers are mainly which with the front part being pale pink with red round plastic handles. Finally at the bottom of the chest of drawers are four large red feet made from plastic.

Once assembled the drawers have a screw to prevent your child pulling them all of the way out.

The measurements of the chest of drawers is; W 77cm, D 45cm and H 73cm.the maximum load for the drawers is 10kg in each one.

This is a very heavy item, I have rearranged my daughters room a few times and it needs two people to move it unless you remove all the drawers and move the frame first.

We have a TV on the top of the drawers and it is the perfect height for my two year old as she cannot reach it. Inside the drawers we have toys and games at the moment, as my daughter is small her clothes fit in the wardrobe we have easily. The drawers come out easily and close slowly so my daughter is able to go in herself and pick what she would like. The drawers are of a good size each drawer is 36cm in depth.

IKEA recommend that you fix this product to the wall, I have to be honest I haven't done this as I didn't want to start drilling into the walls, the drawers are also so heavy I can't imagine that even an adult would topple them over easily.

Overall this is a lovely item, the range looks very 'cartoon' like and the colours are bright and vivid, it fits in really well with out Minnie Mouse theme that we have currently.

To clean these drawers you can simply wipe them over with a damp cloth. I haven't got anything negative to say about the finished product and I would recommend this item 100%.
