The Ikea Mammut Children's chair is made of polypropylene plastic and comes in three colours. We have the mid-blue version pictured and the red rectangular table.

It can be purchased from the Children's section in IKEA and, like most IKEA furniture, comes flatpacked. It doesn't take a lot of assembly though, everything basically slots together and you need to use a bit of brute force to make sure it connects, but no tools are required.

The chair looks cool - it is designed to look slightly over-sized with four chunky legs and a high back. It coordinates well with the matching table and my two year old was very impressed by the way it looked, probably because of the bright, fun colours.

However, we have not been happy with the performance of this chair. The legs fall off seemingly at random and, although they have not fallen off while my son is sitting on it (they fall off when he crashes into it with typical toddler force), this is not something we want from a chair. It also seems to tip over far too easily. We actually have two chairs (the other is a wooden one from John Lewis) and my toddler will only now sit on the other one so the Mammut chair is just for guests.

Overall, I really wanted to like the chair because I like the way it looks, but it just isn't durable enough for life with an typical toddler.

Summary: Not recommended, buy something better!
