When I was expecting my second child we needed to move my eldest boy out of the nursey and into his own room to make way for the new baby. He was 18 months old at the time and we decided to give him a proper boys room. Maybe this was more for us than him because at 18 months I don't think he was too bothered how his room looked. Anyway one of the things we really wanted was a car bed.

We looked around for a while but didn't see anything we liked, then I came across the Little Tikes Roadster Bed in the Woolworths catalogue. It was £200 and we ordered it straight away.

When it arrived the bed did need to be assembled. You get the mattress and a wooden base. The actual car comes in four parts which just click together and the wheels come seperate which need attaching. I put the car bed together myself so it can't be that difficult to do.

The mattress size is the same as a cotbed, so it is perfect for little kids, a big bed without actually being a big bed. It is suitable from 18 months and thats when my son got his, he has never fallen out of his bed.

The only complaint I have about the bed is that the wooden frame that supports the mattress is pretty cheap, my husband has had to repair ours a few times, usually when the kids jump on the bed.

My son is now five so he is just about ready for a new bed but he's used it for three and a half years and it is still in really good condition. Appearance wise the bed looks as good as when we first bought it.

We loved the bed that much that when I had my third baby and my second son had to move out of the nursery we bought him the same bed. It was a bit more difficult to get hold of though because Little Tikes had replaced the blue bed for a red one. Eventually we tracked down somewhere online that sold the blue bed and we bought it for about the same price.

I really think the Little Tikes Roadster Bed is perfect for any toddler moving out of a cot. They are smaller and safer than buying them a big bed. They also look great in a car themed room, perfect!
