Mothercare Moses Basket Pine Stand
Advantages: Good height, folds up easily, sturdy
When my little girl was born, I was lucky enough to have been given a moses basket and stand from my sister who no longer needed them, so this saved some of the expense of a new baby. My sister when she had her first child tended to purchase a lot of stuff in Mothercare, because at that time, there was a store in our home town, which has now gone. Due to the fact that we were given the basket and stand, I never needed to look around for one and so have nothing to really compare the basket and stand to.
As far as I can see Mothercare now have a slightly more updated version of this stand, however the one that I was given is identical to the (probably!) older design like the one pictured above. The newer stand costs £19.99, so I can imagine my sister probably paid something similar. The main difference between the two stands is the lack of round tubing at the head and foot of the stand to support both ends of the basket.
I found this stand to be at a good height for my newborn baby at the time. If you have an animal then you could feel confident that in general this would sit high enough above the ground to keep anything from getting at baby. I also liked the fact that in the early days when we had this basket downstairs during the day, I could sit on the sofa and have the basket on its stand at the same height I was sitting at, so I could watch my daughter sleep and attend to her when she woke.
The great thing about this stand is that is folds up very very easily, meaning that it can be transported up and down stairs, in the car etc. IN fact, we took our little girl away whilst she was still in this moses basket when she was few months old, and folded up this stand fitted inside the back seat of our car no problem. We were also glad of the folding feature when we moved our little girl upstairs in the evening, I could lift the basket, and my husband could fold up the stand and transport it upstairs without wakening her.
I also like the plastic tubing that goes around the head and the foot of the moses basket and I felt this gave the basket a good sturdiness when in place, so unless someone wanted to intently put the basket, it shouldn't move very easily. Also with the head and foot of the basket supported, there was no fear of the basket tilting back or forth. Without the basket, this stand does feel very lightweight, but no so when the basket is added.
All in all, I was extremely pleased with this stand. I loved the fact it folded up so easily and could be transported. I like the fact that it felt sturdy when the basket was placed on it and I liked the height of it. A great stand!
Summary: A great stand for a moses basket
