When we were looking to purchase our Moses basket stand we New we needed something a bit more sturdy than the usual fold up stands as we needed it to be able to withstand other children running around and possibly bumping into it as well as the clumbsy dog without poor baby ending up on the floor which is why we opted for this design.
You can get this style stand from lots of different places but we had ours from Argos purely because that was where we were buying the Moses basket from and there was an offer on to get this stand for ten pounds if brought at the same time as the Moses basket which saved us nearly twenty pounds.
It comes flat packed in a easy to store box which is good if you order it in advance of your baby arriving so it doesn't take up too much space unroll assembled. Once assembled the basket fits very nicely and snugly into the stand which I wasn't expecting and thought it might be a looser fit so was very pleased with this.
The stand is even sturdier than I thought it would be and I didn't have any fear of poor baby being knocked over, the rocking motion of the stand is just enough to settle a restless baby back off to sleep easily without you having to pick up baby to rock them but isn't too violent for a new born as some rocking devices seem to be.
As baby gets older there wriggling when restless sets the stand off moving which was a pleasant surprise to me but a great thing for a baby that liked to be rocked.
The stand is hard wearing and easy to wipe down to keep clean too, I just gave ours a wipe over with the duster when dusting the living room.
There really isn't a lot more I can say about this stand as it is such a simple product but I would certainly recommend it compared to the file up version of the moses basketstands.
A moses basket stand isn't an essential item for most new parents however as I have four very curious and playful dogs, putting my baby in her moses basket on the floor was completely out of the question.
I bought my daughter's moses basket from Toys R Us and their stands were quite pricey so I decided to have a look around and I ended up with this one from Argos. It mainly appealed to me because it was cheap but I also loved that it rocks from front to back and I much preferred this to the rigid version which didn't rock. I paid £19.99 for the stand and the current retail price is £21.93.
The stand comes flat packed with various attatchments and it took my boyfriend and my brother around 15 minutes to assemble and the instruction manual looked nice and simple. The stand once built is nice and sturdy. The stand is very basic in design which I like as it didn't clash with my babies cream moses basket, nor did it clash with the nursery or living room decor and seeing as we used this both up and downstairs in different rooms the neutral, minimalistic look suited us nicely. Although it is basic in design it does look much more expensive than it was and you can tell by looking at it that it is made from natural wood rather than cheap synthetic material.
The subtle glossy finish makes it look that bit better as well and it is smooth to the touch. Although it is very sturdy and well made it isn't too heavy and my boyfriend was easily able to carry it up and downstairs as it isn't too bulky. I must admit that I did struggle carrying it up and down stairs especially during the first few weeks of having my baby but it was do-able and not too tiring. There is only one colour available - a natural pale pine wood meaning that it will not clash with the design of your babies moses basket or look out of place.
The stand can fit any moses basket and the basket is held securely in place by the two sturdy plastic attatchments that are on both ends of the stand. My daughter had the I love my bear moses basket and it fitted onto the stand perfectly and once on it felt secure and I never had any worries about the stand being flimsy or anything. The stand rocks from side to side gently and smoothly and it rocked easily with a little push but if Erin was fidgetting it would barely budge. My daughter was tiny when she was newborn at just under six pounds although as she grew the stand would sway slightly more to one side when rocking if she was cuddled up to the edge of it which although noticeable didn't make me worry that it might topple over or anything.
The rocking motion effectively helped to ease my baby back to sleep on many occasions which saved me from having to get out of bed and pick her up meaning that my sleep wasn't disturbed too much. We used this stand daily for around three months and after that we started putting the moses basket in her cot so only used this down stairs and we stopped using it completely when she was around four months. It came in very handy and I found that the height was perfect - I would usually put it at the side of the sofa and if I was sitting down I would easily be able to reach over and scoop Erin out for her feeds etc and when standing I didn't need to bend down. The maximum weight is 9kg which I think is a decent limit as most babies will be out of their moses baskets by time they hit this weight.
Overall this is a stylish, well made and durable moses basket stand which is excellent value for money.
As you may see from a previous review we purchased Jayden the Sleepy Teddy Moses Basket from Argos for him to sleep in in our bedroom at nights and also to have downstairs for naps when needed. We didn't really want to just have the basket on the floor whether it be in the day or during the night, we have 3 cats, who are actually very good with him and don't really interfere with him at all, however we were a bit concerned that if the basket was on the floor all the time it might encourage them to snuggle up in there so we decided to get a stand to go with the basket. By having a stand it meant they was deterred from getting in the basket and also it made the basket the same height as the bed so keeping an eye on him at night was much easier. We opted for the Pine Wooden Moses Basket Rocking Stand which was also from Argos and on offer at the time.
The Pine Moses Basket Stand came in a rather plain cardboard box, from what I can remember the box had the name of the stand written on it as well as a drawing of the stand, all of which was in black, there was nothing fancy about the packaging at all, however it did its job of protecting the contents. The stand came unassembled inside the box and all of the separate parts which make up the stand were wrapped up in clear plastic to provide extra protection, all of the fittings and the instructions were inside the box as well. The stand we chose was a rocking stand, the parts which came inside the box consisted of two rockers, two upright posts, four support posts (these sit between the upright posts for added support) and two plastic strips which hold the basket on the stand, a bag containing all of the screws is also included. When it came to assembling the moses basket stand my husband did the majority of it, I just helped a little, however actually assembling it was quite quick and easy, knowing where each bit went was simple I would say the assembly was more fiddly than anything, but overall it really didn't take long at all. To assemble the stand you do not need loads of different tools, just a phillips head screw driver and that's it.
Once assembled the stand is sturdy and strong, it is made from a pine wood which has all been finished to a high standard, there is a small gold plaque on one of the rockers. As I have mentioned the stand has two thick plastic strips, these curve around the front and back of the moses basket once it is in place on the stand, these are a creamy colour to help them blend in with the pine wood and prevent the basket from slipping backwards and forwards. The stand is not specifically for the Sleepy Teddy Moses Basket and can be used for others so these plastic strips are made so that a variety of baskets can fit on the stand, with out moses basket there is a slight gap between the basket and the strips although this is not big enough to cause any problems. The Rocking Stand is suitable to use from birth, which really it has to be as moses baskets are usually used for newborn babies, the weight limit for this stand if 9kg so it can be used for quite some time. The stand rocks gentle backwards and forwards allowing you to help your baby settle, the stand is easy to move backwards and forwards meaning that I can actually lay in bed and gently rock the basket to help Jayden settle after his night feed.
As I have mentioned I purchased the Rocking Stand from Argos, this stand is sold for £21.99, however when we bought it if you bought the moses basket and the stand together your got £10.00 off the stand making it just £11.99 which is what we went for. When we purchased the stand we got a bit of a bargain however I would still be prepared to pay full price for this item as I still think it is good value for money and reasonably cheap.
I would definitely recommend the Wooden Moses Basket Rocking Stand, it is of an excellent quality and finished to a high standard, it is strong and sturdy. The stand is reasonably priced even if it is not on offer and in my opinion well worth the money.
When we first bought our stand we did have to return the first one as when we were assembling it one set of holes did not line up for the screws to go in, however Argos replaced it there and then without question and the second one we got was perfect I think we were just unlucky with the first one being faulty.
Overall this is an excellent quality product, it is ideal for keeping the moses basket off of the floor and means you do not have to bend right down when putting your baby in it, this was ideal for me when we first brought Jayden home as having a caesarean made it painful to bend right down so I could easily put him in his basket without having to get my husband to help, the stand also makes the basket the same height as the bed so at night, I can easily keep an eye on him without having to lean over the edge of the bed. I would definitely recommend this stand to anyone with a moses basket as it is designed to fit most baskets, it is finished to a high quality and would look good in any nursery or bedroom.
