Advantages: Easy to assemble, thick mattress, large area to sleep in

Disadvantages: None

I purchased this Redkite Sleep tight 100 travel cot from Kiddicare.com, they sold it on here for £29.99 and the RRP is £59.99, so it was a great bargain. This travel cot is suitable for babies from birth up to a maximum of 15kg in weight and who are unable to climb out.

It is always difficult to tell from looking online what a travel cot is going to be like and if it will suit your child, but this one came with many good reviews therefore I took the chance.

I was pleasantly surprised when it arrived, it comes in a black zip up bag with long handles so you can carry it easily, the dimensions when folded down are 78 x 27 x 27 cm, so it isnt too bulky, it weighs 8.7kg.

The travel cot has the mattress wrapped around the outside of it with 2 strong Velcro straps to keep it all held together. When you open up the travel cot it has 4 legs (obviously!) and there is a part in the middle that has a handle on, to put up the travel cot you have to spread the top corners halfway out in the direction of the arrows, ensuring the central hub remains upright. You then lift the 4 top folding bars up until they click into place, you must raise the 2 longest sides first. When all 4 folding bars have clicked and locked into place you then push down on the central hub, this then locks the safety lock into place.

You then lay the mattress down inside the travel cot, there are 2 holes at each end of the travel cot to thread the Velcro straps through, these then stick to the outside of the cot to keep the mattress in place.

I was very pleased with the size of the travel cot, when opened it measures L104 X W79 X D78cm. Plus the mattress is a lot thicker than some travel mattresses you can get, making it a lot comfier for your little one to sleep on. The travel cot has easy view mesh panels on two sides to enable your little one to see through them.

It is very simple to put the travel cot away, you simply remove the mattress, pull up the central hub approx half way. You fold each of the 4 top folding bars by holding the centre of the bars and lifting slightly, this then enables you to lower the bar. Then pull the central hub up completely, this then draws in the travel cot. You then just wrap the mattress around the outside and secure it with the Velcro straps, it then zips back up in his handy black, carry bag - easy peasy!!

Summary: A great solution when travelling
