Red Kite Sleep Tight
Advantages: Cheap sturdy
Disadvantages: thin mattress
I bought this travel cot from Asda for £25. It is suitable form birth to 15kg. I didn't actually intend to use it as a travel cot as the only place Amelia sleeps apart from our house is at my mothers and she has her own cot there. I wanted it as a playpen to pop her in if I was going out of the room for a bit.
The travel cot comes in a handy travel bag to keep it in. The bag has a carry handle to make it easy to transport and it folds up very small so would be perfect for taking places. The cot requires no assembly what so ever you literally take it out of the bag and it unfolds and basically pops up. It did take me a while to realise that you have to make the side bars rigid before making the bottom flat but that was my own fault for not bothering to read the instructions. Taking it down is a bit more difficult and I gave up in the end and just squished it up and carried it downstairs. It lives permanently in the corner of our living room though so this isn't a problem for us.
The mattress it comes with is not very thick so while it would be ok for occasional naps or a single overnight trip I think it would need a bit of extra padding for extended trips away. Amelia is very fussy on where she will sleep and will only sleep in her cot so I can't really comment on the comfortableness of it further than this.
The sides of the cot are mesh which is brilliant for my purpose of a playpen as it means she can see out of it. Amelia is 15 months and when she stands up she can just peek over the top of it but there's now way she'd be able to climb out as it's so low to the floor. The mesh holes a very small so baby can't get their fingers or objects stuck in them, which is obviously a good thing. It also has the added bonus of being breathable so baby doesn't get too hot and sweaty. The support bars are covered with padding to avoid any accidents if the baby bangs themselves on it and it is all wipe clean.
All in all I am very happy with this cot. For the price we paid it is an absolute bargain. 5 stars for me and Miss Amelia
Summary: A brilliant buy, highly reccomended
