A few weeks ago, I had an interesting task set for me by my mother. Now, firstly I should explain that my mum is the area manager for a chain of coffee shops and is in charge of managing them all, along with training the staff that they employ. She had seen a programme on television which was all about the issues faced by a chain of eateries, and a lot of tthe points raised were very apt for the coffee shops she runs. Recently I wrote a review of a SanDisk Cruzer Titanium 8GBs USB thumb drive. My opinion of this device was that it was one of the best thumb drives I have ever used and terrific value for money. It can be used simply as a portable data store or as a combined data store and portable applications platform. SanDisk created a platform for portable applications called U3. First of all please bear in mind that this review is from the point of view of an end user and not a software engineer or technical bod! ~~What is it?~~ Portable Apps is a small piece of software which you can download from the website onto a USB memory stick. Once the software is installed you can use it like the 'Start' button for windows - you click on the icon and it pops up a menu for your memory stick. Its brilliantly simple. ~~What can I do with it?~~ Wherever you are you can pop in your memory stick and see your menu of programs which you can carry with you.
