Advantages: Beautiful items, interesting and regular new collections
Disadvantages: Can be expensive, customer services variable
Accessorize is a sister shop of Monsoon, and the two provide a dual appeal of sophisticated, pretty and detailed fashion. Monsoon sell clothing, whilst Accessorize basically produce everything else to accessorize an outfit - belts, purses, bags, scarves, bikinis, hairpieces and jewellery.
Accessorize are popularly seen as a high quality and fashionable store, usually producing several ranges each season - this spring-summer 09, Ascot, Festival and Nautical. The stores themselves resemble a kind of Aladdin's cave, jewellery piled upon displays amongst co-ordinating items from their collections, and drawing the shopper in to areas they find particularly appealing. Pieces are rarely shown as an 'it' item, rather kooky individual jewellery which appears unique despite it's mass marketing. The shop being beautifully set out, I have sometimes found the shop assistants to be a little sharp and unsmiling, and not as helpful as many other companys' customer services.
The company promotes bohemian and exotic fashions, and focuses on fairtrade jewellery and embroidery, itself a founding member of the Ethical trading Initiative. This can be seen to be reflected in the price of items fomr Accessorize - fairly high, compared to similar items from other high street shops, but personally all items i have purchased from accessorize have lasted very well and were deserving of their price tag. Following Accessorize's whole ethic, they do not produce throwaway fashion, but pieces to cherish and that will last for years.
Summary: Pretty kooky trinkets on the high street
