Advantages: Cute stuffs
Disadvantages: Quite out of my budget
One of my favorite shops to pop in at this time of the year. And I have just got home from an Accessorize store with a few goodies, so I am gonna share with you guys why it is one of my favorites.
You can probably guess what is in there by the name. Yeah, accessories, handbags, custom jewelries, scarves, hats, shoes,... too many things to name them all. Accessorize used to be just a small part of Monsoon clothing stores but it was so popular that now there are individual Accessorize stores, often located next to Monsoon stores though. Today there are more than 240 Accessorize stores in the UK and a blossoming international operation of over 600 stores. Therefore, you can easily find an Accessorize store near you.
The stores are very nicely organised. The jewellery is arranged by colour, sometimes items in the same theme are put together, which makes it easier to shop. There are also freestanding displays of things like hats and scarves so they are easy to put back onto the displays rather than trying to hang them on a hook on the wall. The stores are usually small but not too small, they are enough to wander around browsing, and at the same time, feeling cozy & comfortable.
There are a lot of styles of available at Accessorize, most of them are quite feminine. The colours are usually bright, but not too colourful.
This is the section that I love most at Accessorize. As I mentioned above, they are set out according to colour and you can easily find the matching earrings and necklace for your bracelet and vice versa. The jewelry range from very cute stuffs to more sophisticated pieces to suit older ladies. Jewelries are made into details and very dedicated, mostly custom jewelries but there are also some sterling silver jewelries with simple designs available. They come in all shapes and sizes - from strings of beads, to diamante crystal designs, chains, lockets, etc. So you can easily find something you like there. The quality is good, I haven't had problems with anything I bought so far.
Another section that I adore is the hats, scarves and gloves section. There are usually matching things. Although there are many colours on an item, it doesn't look all funky and weird. The colours are just perfectly matched and what I like about Accessorize is that they are always into details, the same pair of gloves you would find anywhere else but just a little cute bow or something small makes a big different overall (and also makes you willing to pay much more for some reasons).
Handbags: I don't like their handbags very much though, and I have never owned one as they look a bit "weak" to me. Accessorize sell a variety of different bags from your standard day bags to beach bags, evening bags and clutches. If I were to buy any of their handbags, it would be the clutch. their clutches & evening bags look more appealing to me for some reasons. Their bigger bags don't look that good although the designs are quite nice. And I don't like their leather bags either.
Key & phone charms, hair accessories, slippers are other things that I love, everything is just too cute to resist.
Their shoes & flip-flops are just so-so, they are cute but you could find similar styles elsewhere at lower price.
And there are also sections for kids but not as popular, you better go shop at Claire's for kids as it is cheaper and there are more styles.
The handbags are around £30-£40 for big bags and more than £20 for small ones. Shoes are around £20-£30. Not too bad, I think, but they don't look like they are worth that much to me.
The hats, gloves & scarves are more expensive than most other high-street stores. Hats are around £15-£20, and so are scarves, gloves are around £10-£15. And as I mentioned above, the small details are just too cute that make people (unwillingly) happy to pay a bit more.
Although I really love their jewelry, I find it quite pricey. But then I think it depends on the store you are comparing to. They are more expensive then Next's and most other high-street stores, but quite similar to Top Shop's. Most pendants are about £6, bracelets range from £6 to £16, mostly around £12, and necklaces are around £10 to £20. So just pick a few items and I will definitely cry when I check my bank account (lol). Therefore, usually I just browse the stuffs, trying them and leave the store.
There is Christmas sale though when all sale items are half price off at first (for a couple weeks) and then most sale items are 70% off. Usually I don't find sale items any good as I tend to only love non-sale items when I am the store (my bad) but I must say their sale items are absolutely adorable. Today I picked up 5 adorable headbands for around £2 each, and I have bought quite a lot of jewelry over the past few weeks for about £4 to £5 each. I only actually buy something there at this time of the year anyway. There are sale on handbags and a few other accessories as well, but there are very little sale on hats, scarves and gloves though, which makes me feel a bit sad.
Customer service generally is good. The staffs are friendly and helpful. And they make a lot of efforts to make the shop always clean and organized, even at the time of the sale. And like most other high-street stores, there are 28-day for exchange & returns (of course except some items for hygiene reasons).
Overall, it is one of my favorite store for browsing (I love cute things). And definitely worth looking, a fantastic place for accessories. Who think we only need beautiful clothes? Just a bit of accessories here and there will give your outfit a totally different look.
Summary: Lower the price a bit and I will give you 5 stars :))
