Advantages: Cheap
Disadvantages: Not alot of choice
For the first time on Saturday I done my weekly shopping at Aldi. I had never been in one before but I had heard people saying they was cheap so I took a trip to Sudbury in Suffolk and went to Aldi.
The first thing I noticed was it was a large shop with a lot of wasted space. Big areas of nothing in, but I began to do my shopping.
As I was going round I was getting more pleased with this shop. Everything was really quite cheap. Aldi don't have branded food, they have an alternative from usually around Europe.
They had a good selection of fruit and veg and a big freezer section.
The thing about Aldi though is its good if you want what they have got. They have limited selections of products. Usually a choice of 2 or 3 at the maximum of the same thing. Especially on the shampoo and them things. They had a choice of 2 shampoos and conditioners. I got the most expensive one they had of 99p and it didn't even lather up in my hair. I got a shower gel which smells nice but actually stings my skin. The next day I had to go to tesco to get those little bits which they lacked. The other thing I found was that they don't do deals. I,e buy one get one free etc which other supermarkets do.
In general though. I got my weeks shopping for 2 of us, including 2 washings powders and fabric conditioner for under £45. I will definitely use again just have do also shop in a different place for a few little things they don't have.
On my final note. If anyone has been to one you will know what I mean. If you haven't been but are thinking of going. You need to be on the ball at the checkout. Its like the generation game.
Summary: Its good if you want what they have got

- 04/05/09 Oh I know what you mean about the checkout - and if you can't keep up the whole line behind you will be tutting. It's a dog eat dog world in Aldi. |
