Advantages: Cheaper than the competitors
Disadvantages: Cannot buy other brands here
Aldi
Aldi is a German supermarket chain which seem to appearing more and more across the country. There is quite a large one near to me and I find myself popping in there quite regularly.
They sell fruit and veg, which is always fresh and usually has a decent selection. It is also very reasonable priced and generally cheaper than that other supermarkets. They also sell a wide range of frozen goods, lots of which are really, really good.
There is also tinned goods and toiletries and often household goods and clothing too. A pet section, chilled foods section and baked goods section are also available. The baked goods section isn't as good as the other supermarkets though, with a relatively small selection of breads etc. I prefer to go to Asda for their fresh, in store bakery.
It is worth noting that Aldi only sell their own goods, so you will not be able to buy other brands here and probably won't be able to do all your weekly shopping. It is still well worth having a look and trying some of their stuff though, you may be surprised by the choice they have available.
I definitely recommend Aldi, they are cheaper than competitors with a decent range to choose from. With Christmas approaching, they should have more than ever to choose from for all the family. It used to be relatively quiet in my local store but seems busier each time I visit - looks like word is spreading!
