Advantages: Low Prices, High Quality

Disadvantages: Limited availability on some products, Queing

I have only been recently introduced to shopping concept of Aldi and have been surprised by the high quality and low prices.

If, I dare say it a number of Aldi products are similar to M&S products such Aldi?s Thai Style Lime and Coriander Chicken Pieces, Flamegrilled Chicken Pieces in terms of quality but are significantly lower in price than M&S. Even Jamie Oliver would be at home shopping at Aldi with its balsamic vinegars, virgin olive oil and its great selection of fresh fruit and vegetables.

Aldi offer an extensive range of award winning wines that range from £1.99 through to £5.99.
This year twenty of Aldi?s own wines have been singled out by the prestigious International Wine Challenge 2003 for Medals or Seals of Approval. I recommend the Mayrah Estates Chardonnay at £3.49 a bottle.

Every Thursday, Aldi have a specials sales day, where they bring in special purchases such as DVD players, frying pans, toys, clothes etc. at unbelievable prices. I recently brought a lovely collapsible Gazebo for the garden at £39.99, which Homebase was selling identical item for £69.99!!!

The only difference between Aldi and other major UK supermarkets is that Aldi choose to have smaller retail outlets, which in turn limits the range of products that are available. At end of the day, do we really need twenty different varieties of washing powder to choose from??? Aldi just offers a core basic range of groceries at low prices, which benefits us the consumer in the long run with lower prices.

Guess, what Aldi doesn?t supply baskets either just trolleys this they say helps to keep their costs down. I suppose a trolley is less likely to go missing especially when you have to deposit a £1 to get hold of one.

The only real disadvantage to shopping at Aldi is queuing at peak times and that really is the only draw back that I have found to date. On my frequent visits to my local Aldi, I have always found the staff to be hel
pful and friendly unlike your average Lidl store!!!

If like me, you like your gourmet continental foods and fine wines at low prices then Aldi might be right up your street.

If I?ve managed to intrigue you to go and shop at Aldi, please feel to use the enclosed link to find your nearest Aldi store.

Like the review, you've made me want to give Aldi a go, having got tired of the local Lidl. I only wish there was a branch nearer to me. Till than I am trapped with the high prices of Tesco Metro, Sainsbury's a discount retailer M&S :-)

Welcome to dooyoo :o)
I've bought a few bits and pieces from Aldi before but it's not somewhere I've ever done a 'full shop'. Nice op!
