AlldersNewest Review: ... huge amounts of stock, and a great feel to the store. Sadly now the lone Allders is probably the worst department store in Croydon. There are 2 others: Debenhams and House of Fraser, each holding a wider range of products and being host to a wider range of companies. Allders has a disappointing womenswear section. Where once you could buy a great array of clothes, you are now left with a ... more |

When Allders went bust a few years ago it seemed very sad. What had once been a great chain of department stores was to be reduced to one lone store in Croydon. The store in Croydon had always been THE main place to shop. Regardless of the other shops locally, Allders was the place to go to get anything you wanted. It had concessions galore, huge amounts of stock, and a great feel to the store. Sadly now the lone Allders is probably the worst department store in Croydon. Sitting like the a Queen holding court at the top of Northend, Allders has the rest of the Croydon shopping area seemingly built onto it. It is apparently the largest department store outside central London. Access to and from the store is available from the high street, and several ways via the Whitgift centre, aswell as the multi storey carpark. With 5 floors it is a huge spawling affair which is easy to get lost in. The tram stops directly outside and into the the walk through arcade past menswear you have various smaller leased shops including bakers, delicatessen and some heavenly smelling coffee shop/natural beauty products shop that looks almost ... I've become a big fan of Allders over the last few months. They sell all the sorts of things you would expect to find in a department store - clothes, furniture, household stuff, its all at good prices, and the quality is excellent. I have found their staff to be pelasnat and helpful, and their store is airey, although a little hard to navigate in. The quality of merchandise is high, and everything they sell is a little unusual and original, which is a real plus for anyone like me who is sick of how dull shopping has got. I have noticed that Allders almost always have something on a sale rack, so the chances of picking up a bargin are very good, ... Read the complete review
